Sage Rosenfels (1 Viewer)

Like many Schaub owners, I'm now reduced to rolling with Sage. Last week was a horrible matchup against Baltimore. Things should be easier this week. He put up some good #'s vs. the Colts before he imploded late in the game earlier in the season, although that game was at home and I believe Bob Sanders didn't play.

I think the Colts will probably jump out to an early lead so the Texans will have to play catchup, which means Sage will be throwing the rock around. I think 250ish yards passing, 20ish yards rushing, 2 TD's, and 2 INT's are reasonable projections.

I sat QB Matt Cassel in favor of Sage. There's no emoticon for that.

His turnovers kill me in the league I own him in. I think he'll throw for a lot of yards but more than 2 interceptions.Probably starting Thigpen over him this week :blackdot:

Not me. There's a reason he's not a starter in the NFL. Looks good 1 play, throws horrific passes to opposing linebacker off of his back foot on the next. Killed a lot of owners next week. Can't trust him. Idiot.

No way. He is a turnover machine. I won't be starting him unless he is up against a soft passing defense. Indy actually has been pretty tough against the pass this year. Rolling with Thigpen.

I want to with having AJ and Daniels too, but rolling with Rogers and Cutler. Sources are saying Schaub won't be back till wk 14 or 15 an even when he get's back he'll be alittle rusty. Not a good option during FF playoffs.

Can't handle the turnovers. I had to drop Sage to pick up Thigpen (roster limits me to 3 QBs: Delhomme, Schaub, Thigpen). Haven't decided who to start, but probably Thigpen.

I am starting him in the league that does not have any negative points for turnovers.

He is still on the waiver wire in the league that is only 3 points for a TD and -1 for INTs.

League scoring makes a big difference.

 Roll with someone else like Thigpen if you can. He's got a great matchup at home this week. Indy's defense has been playing much much much better since Sanders returned and I see the score 28-7 Indy by the end of the day. The Texans are going to get shut down and Sage will have more turnovers then TD's

I want to start Sage, but he is too high-risk for me at this point. He is just as likely to go for 200 & 4 INTs w/ no TDs as he is having a great game.

I need a win badly this week, so I'm going with Eli.

I'm sorry, I have to jump in here and defend this guy. He had one horrific game. That's it. He looked solid in week 5 against the Colts going 21 of 33 for 246 yards, a TD, and a pick. That was in limited action. He then went to Minnesota and completed 21 of 29 passes for 224 yards, two TDs, and a pick. I actually think he may be a decent start this week. I could definately see 225+ yards a couple of TDs and a couple of picks. He's got one of the best WRs in football in AJ, a solid TE in Daniels, and a RB who can keep a defense honest in Slaton. If you are in a league that takes points away for turning the ball over, I could maybe see why you don't want to start him, but other than that I think he's a decent play this week.

Why the hate?

I dropped him for Schaub. I think his play will force Schaub back into action sort of like Romo has been forced back by the inept QB backup play in Dallas.

I too intend on using Thigpen until Schaub returns to the lineup

You say Baltimore was a tough matchup, but I'm not so sure. Their secondary is getting awfuly beat up, and you ONLY move the ball through the air vs. Baltimore. Secondly, this Indy defense has Sanders back, and we all know what the Indy D does with him vs. without. And how's that LT for Houston doing these days? Let's see vs. Freeney.

It goes without saying that the Scoring System of the League you play in dictates the value of Rosenfels, as does the Team you build around him, the type of player you are, and where you find yourself/your Team, in Week 11...

He's a solid definition of a high-risk, high-reward play at QB, so if you're League doesn't penalize heavily for INT's, and your starting lineup can absorb the risk if you guess wrong, and it's not the most critical game of the year for you, he's worth consideration.

Here's my situation: I drafted the Matt Ryan and the Schaub/Rosenfels Tandem as backups to Romo in a High-Stakes Local League where TDP=6, and there are no penalties for INT's. QB's are huge in this League. This is the 1st Week I've had to make a decision at the position, and I'm starting Rosenfels, no question. Now, it helps a great deal that I'm 9-1 and have locked up my Division, but I'm still competing with a few other Teams for 2 Byes, which are crucial because the loser of the Week 15 Games gets their money back ($500), and I'm in contention for Season High Points, which is another $500. So this is by all means a crucial week and a crucial decision.

Here's my analysis: I'm not keen on starting Romo on the road in his 1st Game back, vs a Team that's quite possibly the most heated rivalry in the NFL, and a lot of pressure on teh Cowboys. Ryan offers a very tasty matchup at home vs Denver, for sure. I'm going to bet they pound the ball with Turner/Norwood, and play a very efficient style of offense...but it's the combination of Sanders returning for Indy, and Slaton beginning to look like he's hitting the 'Rookie Wall' that has me intrigued by the Rosenfels vs Indy matchup. I'm willing to take the gamble that Rosenfels won't get hurt, and that it's extremely unlikely he'll get pulled (Kubiak knows what he has in Sage, and that the picks are part of his game), and the fact that not only does he have AJ and OD, but one of the best complementary WR in the game in Kevin Walter, and the emerging David Anderson. I'm thinking Sage might chuck the rock ~ 50 times on Sunday, with a minimum of 2 TD (and probably 3 picks, which don't matter to me), and over 300 yards. I'm going against Brees, but based on the rest of our Teams, I'm pretty confident that I'll get more out of Rosenfels than I will out of Ryan, and it will be enough to keep pace with my opponent.

My .02, hope it helps.

Because he has the pouty look of a loser everytime he throws another pick off of his back foot with no uniforms that look like his in the vicinity, that's why.
