Saints defense (1 Viewer)

*The Saints have a situation going on right now on defense that I feel has skewed some offensive performances by making these last 3 games close come from behind victories.

*Consider this : The Saints were very solid against the run before the injury situation which took out starting defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis, starting linebacker Scott Fujita and defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy.

* This is not a permanent situation however although Clancy is out for the season ( Fujita and Ellis will be back at least by the Patriots game in week 12)

*What does this mean for the offense and in particular Wr's and Rb's that you might have on your fantasy team? As we all know, the Saints defense has had solid games this year where the opposing offense was kept in check. In those games you saw quite a good bit of balance from the Saints offense between the run and the pass and some times even favoring the run. When the Saints offense is put in a situation where it has to catch up it changes the type plays Sean Payton calls. The Saints become very pass oriented and throw more long passes. which helps the stats of Brees, Colston Shockey and the flavor of the week Wr (This week it was Meachum) On the other hand, If the defense is playing solid there will be focus on the running and less long balls to guys like Henderson and Meachum. Shockey and Colston might see slight changes in stats. This is of coarse a good situation if you own any of the 3 backs and Bell in particular because he gets most of the garbage time carries when the Saints are in a comfortable lead.

*What does this mean for the Saints DST and its value and what if you are facing the Saints defense with RB's from opposing teams? Following the return of the starters is vital in your case because the Saints were solid against the run against some good RB's before these injuries. Until that time I would feel good about starting opposing RB's against the Saints starting with Steven Jackson this week.

If you are a Saints DST owner you know they have been a good find and haven't given you many bad games (Depending on scoring format) but you will be glad to know that they have not reached thier true potential with Ellis and Fujita out. Things should get even better for the unit down the road.

My head hurts now.
[Frank takes a drink of water, makes a funny face and grunts] Recent research has shown that empirical evidence for globalization of corporate innovation is very limited and as a corollary the market for technologies is shrinking. As a world leader, it's important for America to provide systematic research grants for our scientists. I believe strongly there will always be a need for us to have a well articulated innovation policy with emphasis on human resource development. Thank you. [Frank grunts, makes a face and goes limp] [audience applauds] Frank: What happened? I blacked out.

It's a solid OP. Might be hard to digest without bullet points or something, but the info is sound.

A lot of people DON'T know that the Saints' run defense has been compromised by injury (with some even thinking it's a reversion to 2008 form). I would think that's fantasy-relevant information.

I thought this thread was about the Saint's defense as a fantasy defense. I'd like to point out that no matter what has gone on with regards to the score or injuries, they have been lights out as a fantasy defense.

But the info here from a homer was good to know. Thanks.

The thread is about the defense and how their play has affected the offense. This is not really a thread on the value of the Saints defense although you can bet once the two injured players return to the lineup, your #5 defense (Dodds) might move up higher than that.Note. I have moved somethings around to make it more reader friendly.

So much info that ties with other seemingly non-related info, it seems like a conspiracy theory. Where is the 2nd shooter on the grassy knoll?Way too many variables to bring into focus this moving target. It looks like the Saints are now showing a disturbing trend of playing down to their competitiion. Please focus on a significant trend and follow a conclusion you feel is supportable. I'd like to read a conclusion statement. I don't doubt that you have some good insight as you are homer of the Saints.Put in other words, If I had to do a report on a topic at work, and I am subject matter expert, and I spew interrelated info on my boss, I don't just get a blank stare....he likely turns his back. swivels his chair, and shoos me out the door in a backhanded wave.

Bush's value is much higher when the Saints are in a tight game or behind. When the Saints are in obvious pass situations Bush will be the back most of the time. IF the Saints are blowing someone out he'll rarely touch the ball.
