1. Win the turnover battle
1) Check.2) Mostly check.3) Sometimes check.4) Check.5) Check.1) Win the turnover battle.2) Control the line of scrimmage.3) Make the Colts run the football.4) Get pressure on Manning using just the defensive line and ballhawk underneath routes when Manning has to get rid of the ball quickly.5) Effective clock management. Be the team that scores inside of two minutes in each half and by all means DO NOT leave time left on the clock in either half for the Colts to mount a last minute counter attack and come away with points.
1. Yep2. Yep 3. Yep4. Somewhat yep5. Didn't need it1. Win the turnover battle2. Get at least one big return (punt, kickoffs, turnover)3. Know when to throw it short and when to throw it deep based on coverages. AKA - Don't force the deep ball in a soft cover 2 shell.4. Find effective pressure packages to confuse the Colts O-line. 5. Get the running game going.

From what they did in the second quarter to recovering the onside kick, there was a long stretch of game with very little Manning.I think a total time of an hour and a half I heard.1. 1. confirmed. once the jitters passed, the intensity and focus from the saints players was obvious.2. eh, not so much... colts had more plays and better 3rd down conversion %.1. focus - don't let the whole superbowl experience get the better of you. it will keep penalties on both sides of the ball to a minimum. it will help you make a clutch catch, break a tackle for the 1st down or keep from giving up the big play.
2. 3rd downs conversions - it'll help you control the clock and sustain drives for opportunities to score.
3. attack! - make manning uncomfortable in the pocket; go deep to stretch the field.
4. run the ball - pierre and mike give the team balance. as tempting as it may be, this cannot be the drew brees show.
5. tackle - no big plays. make them earn every yard.
1. Know when to hold 'em2. Know when to fold 'em3. Know when to walk away4. Know when to run5. You never count your money, when your sittin at the table.Sabol is the man. But, I am pretty sure most folks agree that the Saints DEF were going to give up yards (24th this year in Total DEF?), but needed a takeaway or two to seal the win as they've done all year. What's interesting is that the media was so deep in the Peyton-Manning-genius-mistake-free mode all week, I didn't hear much about the Saints DEF.Personally, I would have thought the Saints needed to run more, but the short/intermediate passes to the middle of the field kept the clock running and chains moving. They ran 'enough'. My only complaint with the running game was bringing in Mike Bell on 3rd and goal. I'm a PT owner, so just highly sensitive to that, I guess. The other thing I didn't count on was S. Payton being so aggressive. In the past, it seems he tried to get clever, and it didn't work. This was more plain aggressive playcalling when he needed it. The last thing that worked for the Saints was fairly consistent performances by EVERYONE. Hartley is nails. L. Moore shows up for the first time this season. Henderson makes some important catches. Dave Thomas contributes. Shockey makes some good catches. Re Bush runs hard. P.Thomas looks good. And Brees...80.2% completion rate, completes his last 10 passes, uses 8 receivers the whole game. Wow. Excellent performance. Alot of that has to go to Bushrod and the line for keeping his jersey (mostly) clean. Freeney's ankle might have had something to do with it, but they did what they needed to.I heard Steve Sabol of NFL Films interviewed on Bloomberg the other day. They asked him his key for the Saints to win: "There have been 9 teams that have returned an interception for a touchdown, and all 9 won. The Saints have to return an interception for a touchdown."Make it 10 for 10. Good call. And to have it be the back breaker as well.
