Just on national radio with Chris Myers...

Saints VP of Operationsand General Manager Mickey Loomis was asked about Deuce McCallister.

He stated... that Duece currently is not the same runner he was before the knee injury.

He knee is healthy.

They will be very cautious with him.

This week he is 50/50 to play.

He could play if needed.

He inferred that maybe later in the year he could be leaned on.

On peculiar note - He never seemed to mention or imply he expects him to be what he once was before the injury. I was expecting to hear him state "its just a matter of time" or something along the lines of "he'll get back to form". But he didnt. He seemed candid in the interview.

Mickey is as serious as a heart attack. If he and the coaches didn't think Deuce could be productive then he would have cut him. they don't care about fan favorite or locker room status - joe horn's release was example of that.
