Saints Won't Rest Players (1 Viewer)

From RotoWorld:

Saints coach Sean Payton said that he will not rest his players now that the quest for a perfect season is over.

The Saints have locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC. "We're not resting them. We're playing right now. There are only two weeks left in the regular season, and we're full speed ahead with this game that we're playing," Payton said. That's obviously great news for owners of all Saints skill players with a tasty matchup against the Bucs on tap this week.

Not yet, which is why they won't rest this week.

Saints 13-1, Vikings 12-2 with the tie-breaker. 2 weeks left. The Saints have not clinched HFA yet.

Slight fix. Vikes have lost to Steelers, Cards, and Panthers.
:) Not sure if it was intentional, but it was funny either way.
Nah ... nuthin' but love for fellow Black & Gold bleeders. I've gotten used to thinking of the Vikings as a generic "one game back" all season, too, so the error makes some sense.

:lmao: Got used to thinking they are a game back all season long. It seems to me that the saints have rested any player that isn't completely 100% several weeks back. Also, eventhough Porter was active against the Cowboys, i don't think he was an everydown CB until someone else was hurt. I thought I saw him come in from the sidlines right before the injury TO.

Also, did Ellis reaggrivate the knee. He played against ATL, but not against Dallas. The commentators said that Sean Payton said in his news confrence during the week that Ellis was very close to coming back from his knee injury.

I've been trying to apply the "would they play in a Super Bowl?" standard all season to the Saints' held-out guys. Lot of guesswork in that, of course ... but it seems that Ellis, Sharper, and Fujita (among others) have been held out preventatively at times this season when they might have passed the "play in a Super Bowl?" test.

Why rest? They get a buy week. Payton can tailor the offense to prevent Brees from being hit(a lot). Is there anyone else they really cannot win without? Colston maybe?

Their defense needs the work.

Pretty sure week 17 game 16 Bress will be sat after Peppers beats Bushrod the 1st 3 passing times
:boxing: What was wrong with Peppers a few games back? Bushrod is not a turnstile ... I believe Ware is a MUCH faster speed rusher than Peppers.
I also believe Mount McKinnie is better then Bushrod, and Peppers took care of him.
Week 9 down? Peppers - one tackle, 0 sacks.
Peppers broke his hand in week 9 against the Saints.

Good move to play everyone

The o-line looked bad against Dallas, needs work for sure

The Defense is not the same the past 4 games, could be due to injuries, but everyone has injuries it's part of the NFL

I can't see NO getting past the Eagles, Packers, or even Vikings at this point in the playoffs

It appears they peaked to early

People keep trotting out the "everyone has injuries" line as if that means injuries don't make a difference to a team. Of course they make a difference. And injured guys come back, too, and make a difference (e.g. Colts' Bob Sanders in the 2006 playoffs).

Not could be, is. And of course everyone has injuries, but it tends to hamper teams with less depth at the injured position, such as the Saints.
