Salary Cap trade - which side wins? (1 Viewer)

$200 salary cap keeper league, .5 PPR, player values are for 2019 and go up $5 per year they are kept

Team 1 sends - Dalvin Cook ($27), Courtland Sutton ($8), Hunter Henry ($6)

Team 2 sends - Damien Williams ($6), Robert Woods ($11)

One fair point, team 2 already has Travis Kelce ($26) in a league where there is no flex, but he would have trade value if the above deal were made.

I prefer what team 1 is offering. I think the ceiling is higher and the floor is safer both next season and long term. I dont trust that Williams will retain a starting role, either by injury or by talent.

I like Team 1's offer much better when looking at just the players.  Without knowing the salary cap situation and what Cook's salary does to a teams flexibility it's tough to say which one I would take.  I am not a fan of Williams long term and wouldn't be surprised if he is surpassed by the end of this year.

Bottom line I like the talent on Team 1's offer better but without knowing the salary cap it's tough to pick a winner.

agree with both posts...Gally sums it up perfectly...Bottom line I like the talent on Team 1's offer better but without knowing the salary cap it's tough to pick a winner.

Okay, some additional info, related to salary cap.  I'll also tell you that I'm team 1 --

20 player roster, and we protect up to 10 for the offseason.  With those 10, I have $127 of my $200 committed.  We start QB/2RB/3WR/TE/K/D.  Here's what I have now --

Luck ($13)

Cook ($27)/Michel ($15)/Chubb ($11)/Guice ($7)

Diggs ($21)/Godwin ($9)/Sutton ($8)

Kittle ($10)/Henry ($6)

So what player would you be able to keep if you make this trade.  You are freeing up one roster spot so you must have a replacement.  That should be factored in.  In addition what quality of players are available and what do they usually go for when you auction to fill out your remaining 10 spots.

I have no problem moving Cook since you have stockpiled RB's and you can only play a total of 2 which means two are sitting on the bench every week.  You need an upgrade at WR since you start three of them.  I don't mind looking but I am not really a fan of this deal.

Actually, because the deal would be taking place after we trimmed our rosters, I would only have 9 players.  What I gain is a massive WR upgrade from Sutton to Woods for minimal cost, the opportunity to gain a cheap keeper in case he hits (in Williams), and $24 in cap space.  What I lose is with a RB downgrade from Cook to Williams, TE depth (though remember that I can only start one of them in any week), and the number of players I keep.

As to who is available, besides rookies... Best WR currently available include Julio Jones, AJ Green, Alshon Jeffery, Emmanuel Sanders, Marvin Jones and Will Fuller - and I also wouldn't be surprised to see Landry and maybe Hilton to be cut before draft day, based on their current prices.  Best RB - Zeke, Mixon, Henry, Miller, and Kerryon Johnson - and possibly Drake, Fournette and Ingram as cap casualties.  So an extra $24 could be of some use.
