Sammie Parker, Super Sleeper in 2006? (1 Viewer)

I just traded V. Morency in a dynasty league for Sammie Parker and 25 BBID.

I just noticed that Parker missed a lot of games last year, but when he returned, he actually put up decent numbers- 10.30, 12.60, 7.90, 12.90, 14.70, 15.80, 2.60 over the last 7 games.

Could this kid be a sleeper? Any Chiefs fans have an opinion? I'll admit i know very little about him...

Yes, many love him as a sleeper. I know that Jeff Pasquino loves the kid the way he came on strong last year. Kennison and Gonzo are not getting any younger, so Parker could be the best receiving option sooner than later. But, who knows who the QB would be.

I love Herm, but wonder what losing Al Saunders will do to the offense. But it appears you can get this kid REALLY late, and he did put up some decent numbers late in the year...

More conservative than Vermeil.
If I am not mistaken he mentioned something about 500 rushes on NFL network.
not only that, but he will make an instant improvement on defense, requiring less passing and catch up ball from the offense.
Before a stat freak catches me on it, KC had over 500 attempts last year, but you do a better job of making the point for me.

My ears were ringing, so I'll throw out my comments.Samie is young and quick - your newer prototypical little burner WR. With Kennison and Gonzo 1-2 as for targets last year from Trent Green, you have to wonder who is the 2 (Parker) and what happens when Kennison runs out of gas.

Gonzo has been kept in to block more when there are injuries on the O-line, and I expect him to have to block more again this year.

The future is pretty bright for Parker. The short term may be his "3rd year breakout" season. KC showed some confidence in him as they did not go out and get a WR in free agency and drafted just one WR in Round 6.

Yes. When not injured, Parker was perfectly productive and did nothing to make KC want to take the WR2 position from him ... quite the opposite, they let Chris Horn and Marc Boerigter both go, indicating support for Parker, Thorpe and McIntyre ...

Parker has played well when he's been healthy, but his upside potential is really limited by the fact that he's the #4 option in the KC offense. KC features their TE and RB in the passing game so much, Parker won't get all that many targets.

He's generally efficient in the targets he does get, however. Last year he was the #8 receiver in the NFL in terms of yards per target (minimum: 40 targets). Part of that is due to Trent Green's high completion percentage -- Eddie Kennison was #3 in the NFL in that category. But it's still impressive.

Unfortunately, though, even if Green throws for 4,000 yards again, 1600-1700 of that will come off the top to the TE and RB positions. That leaves maybe 2350 for the WRs, and Kennison will get more than anybody else -- say, 1000-1100. Dante Hall should get his 300-400 again. So there are maybe 950 yards left over for the remaining WRs. Parker's upside (if Kennison stays healthy) is that he'll get nearly all of those 950 yards, which is a relatively low upside.

Tony Dungy was ultra-conservative with the Buccaneers, but once he went to Indy, Peyton continued with his gaudy stats.
I pretty much think that the ball will end up in the hands of your best players. If Parker is really good and gets open, he'll be able to put up 1,000 & 6. Herm may be conservative, but Coles & Moss put up numbers under him.The BIG problem is that there seems to be more mouths to feed (Kennison/Gonzo/Parker) than a Herm O can satisfy.

However, Kennison is like 35 years old and it wouldn't be completely unheard of for Parker to take over as the dominant WR.

So the question really is... is Parker good enough to take over that role from Kennison?
