Sammy Morris (1 Viewer)

Sammy got more touches than Maroney this past week - including the goal line. He seems to be more of a receiving back than Maroney as well - and I can see Cassel utilizing the dump-off plays frequently.

What are the chances that Sammy becomes the more productive back through the season in NE?

I had him last year...and he was a legit #2/#3 back before the injury. That offense was THAT offense though...so I don't think we can just carry that over.

FWIW...I recall the story of Bellichick calling him at 12 midnight when the FA period started...obviously BB is fond of him.

It must be a new day . . . and that means a new Pats RB thread!

Search under any Patriots running back and my user name and there should be a dozen threads from the past two weeks (and more from earlier on) with discussion on the Pats RB situtation.

David, I am curious to hear your thoughts now - a month later and with Maroney on IR - can Morris be the man? Or are they still figuring on Jordan and Faulk to help as well, keeping the RBBC approach? I would imagine it's the latter, full blown RBBC. I know you've discussed this ad nauseum, just curious to see if anything has changed.Anyone else think Morris can receive the lion's share and be effective?

I suppose Morris will get a bump with Maroney out, but I'm still not seeing him as an uber fantasy stud. He should still split time with Faulk and Jordan (and we may need to add Evans into the mix). Morris' value has been his ability to get in the end zone, not his yardage. His yardage may go up a smidge but I doubt his TD production will change with Maroney out. We may need to see how this shakes out in the next couple of weeks to get a better feel.

This is basically what I thought. Thanks for the quick reply.
