Sammy Morris (1 Viewer)

Word out of Foxborough is that Sammy Morris’ difficulty picking up the blitz has him sliding down the Patriots’ deep RB pecking order, despite his hard running. Having a new quarterback under center only increases the importance of having solid pass-protecting running backs.

it's there, I promise

...and Belichek consistently leaks his game plan to the media. I wouldn't woory much about that report.

Sure kept him out of last Sunday's game??????????
They probably looked at the game film and then made the decision.

Fascinating to try to solve this Rubik's cube.

This is likely the week that my late round flyer on Jordan is proven to be a waste of time.

Some of the variables

1. Game 1 film

2. Faulk back from suspension

3. Why is Jordan on this team?

4. Maroney edge rush importance in today's game plan?

5. Morris was excellent pre-injury last year

Hopefully no one is banking their Week 2 matchups on a New England running back.

Week 2 matchup? I'd go further than that and say that I hope no one is banking their season on a NE RB

Don't get too carried away. Picking up the blitz is vital on 3rd downs, which Faulk owns. Doesn't mean Sammy won't be running on 1st and 2nd. If you guys watched the game last week, Morris looked strong running the ball.

Morris was awesome value last year, and would be again if we continue to see him get 40% of the touches in the next couple weeks. It's a longshot, but we may see some "surprising" touches for Jordan.Disclaimer: this is speculation not shared by DY, who obviously you should trust more than an armchair homer like me....

Right, because prior to last week they had no film on Morris picking up blitzes. He's not the 3rd down back anyways, Faulk is, so I wouldn't sweat this at all.

And Morris didn't look too strong on the play Brady got hurt as it was his man that hit Brady.

In watching the game highlights (shortcut), Maroney and Morris both looked good.

Add in LamJ and KFaulk and you have this - a mess.

Good luck figuring this out week to week.

Add in that the game is SNF and you'll be sweating all night long with this one.

I'd wait a week, watch the game, and then decide - if there is any clear answer.

Season, no (that was Brady). Week 2? Possibly. Never, never, never, ever, ever, ever, never again.
