Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (1 Viewer)

:blackdot:

Not sure I need something this big but wife and I have been due for an upgrade. We could get a BOGO on the S5 but US Cellular is rumored to be getting the G3 in early Q4 as well. I may let the wife get the free S5 or G3 if she wants while I get the N4. Decisions.....

All the carriers seem to be in a hurry to get people on their new plans that require you to pay for the phone insurance. With water proof devices I would expect a good portion of claims will be reduced. Great deal for the carriers.

I have owned the sidekick 2, the iphone and the note 3. Note 3 is the best phone I have owned and its not even close. Maybe comparing it to the sidekick is unfair. Nothing against Apple, I just doubt I will ever go back

I heard Samsung was rushing to get this thing out before Apple.

Expected to reveal Sept. 3. Apple's big show is the 12th I believe.

This is the 1st mention I have seen of new devices possibly being unveiled. I saw a few articles about Samsung not doing well last quarter, and some were criticizing that the new devices were much of the same. IMO, the galaxy devices are great, so why change what is working? Odds are though that the Note won't make as big of a splash as the new Apple devices, because they are having a complete overhaul.

Love my note 3. Sure people still tease me on occasion but I rarely use my 7 in tablet anymore

Camera rumors continue to hint at the inclusion of OIS, Optical Image Stabilization, so it’s possible that this will be a key feature on the Galaxy Note 4. The Galaxy Note 3 was also rumored to have OIS though those rumors did not pan out.
This got my attention.

I agree. The retina, fingerprint scan, underwater, etc. Are not a big deal to me. The camera is actually something I use, so stabilization is a big plus.

OIS is extremely important. I'm looking at the LG G3 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 since my contract is up on Saturday. I couldn't take an unfocused shot with the G3. What does it have? OIS.

I guess so. I can tell you that my wife's S5 takes much better pictures than my Note 2. When I am trying to take pictures of my kid with the Note 2 I get a lot of blurry ones. With her phone it never happens.

I'm in no rush to upgrade my Note 2 but will be getting the Note 4 at some point. The improved camera with OIS is the most significant feature to me.

Samsung has made a few improvements to the Note 4's camera as well. Like the Galaxy S5, it comes with a 16-MP sensor, but it'll also feature Optical Image Stabilization. This eliminates blur from shaky hands while snapping photos or shooting video.

The most noticeable camera enhancement appears to be improved zooming functionality. The Note 4's camera is capable of zooming in up to eight times, compared to the Note 3's 4x zoom camera. Zooming in with the Note 4 is extremely smooth too. The camera responds instantly to pinch-to-zoom gestures, and was able to hone in on an object much more quickly than the Note 3.

Samsung also claims that the Note 4's camera takes better low light photos, and says that the front-facing camera comes with a wide angle lens for capturing a broader range.

The phone was revealed earlier today. The phone itself included nothing that wasn't expected spec wise. But when you include the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, then everything changes. Granted it has the same specs but a very innovative screen layout and design. Personally I think Samsung hit a home run on this one and has me lining up for one.

Go on...

I still dont understand this "pure google experience" bashing of Samsung. I guess I dont see anything wrong with Touchwiz. What is so much better?

Ditto.

I went from the Galaxy series to Nexus 5 and I miss TouchWiz. The pure Android experience isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

So is the note edge the new note 4 or are they releasing a note 4 in the future? I'm confused.
Two different styles of the same phone. Both should be released at the same time.
So what's the difference? Bigger screen size? Will the note 4 have the side screen?
Note Edge is essentially the same as the Note 4, but includes the curved/side screen. The regular Note 4 will not have that feature. The side screen on the Edge gives it some neat abilities that the regular flat screen version of the Note 4 will not have. Some details on what the Edge screen can do

I love the design of the phone and pretty much is near bezel less. You can put everything you want on the main screen and have widgets and apps running on the sides without taking up space.Granted I'll have to see how real world durability is before purchasing. If the screen cracks just flipping it over it ain't worth it.

And of course I'll wait till the Nexus X is announced before pulling the trigger as well. To get the same specs and a pure Google experience for almost half the price is a no brainer.
I'm with you. A little concerned about that curved glass. I'm not in a rush maybe Xmas time.

Heading to Best Buy tomorrow. They have a pre-order deal which expires tomorrow on the Note 4 where you get a $200 gift card on the trade in of "any working smartphone" not cracked or water damaged. Fine print then says "not all phones apply". My s3 has a tiny crack in the corner of the glass so i'm sure they won't take it. I do have a couple of the OG HTC EVOs so i'm hoping one of them will work. The Note 4 for $100 sounds alot better than $300!

My favorite phone ever. I can actually read Web content without having to horizontally scroll. I used to always carry around a tablet or laptop for heavy Internet use. No more. I do still carry a Kindle paper white for reading.

From what i can tell, there seems to be little advantage to the 4 as long as I'm not under water.

Lots of confusion on that promo. In some copy it said they would double the value of your trade in, up to 100. their trade in prices are really low. When we traded in two month old s5, they only gave use 225 each.

OIS.

I'm still using a Note 2 and don't feel a need to upgrade yet.

This one is a beauty - I love how the main Android home screen can be turned into a pseudo computer desktop with a feaure that lets me pop out small windowed versions of select apps. Also, the photos on this are much more vivid than on an iPhone 6 plus. A must-have, this one.

How do you do that?

I just got the Note 4. The screen is huge and crisp. Trying to use the pen more if I'm wasting a prolonged amount of time on my phone. I really like it but its about as big of a phone as I can imagine myself using. The headphones are kinda nice so the whole package is great. It's a pretty fast phone and I really am still learning all it can do and do well.

Plus, when I hit games it immediately suggested Paigow and I've been cracking out on that lately. I'm pretty impressed but also moved from the Galaxy S3 so it had been a while since my last new phone.

If it's like the note 3. You can draw a square on the screen and pick what app to drop there, it's similar to using the split screen menu

Any good case recommendations. I really like the feel as is but i syppose i need to protect it somewhat. Love the metal sides.

Got the $200 in the end for my EVO so BB redeemed themselves. A different location did anyways.
