****San Fran 8-3 at Philly 10-1**** (+3, 47) 4:25 NFCC '23 Rematch (1 Viewer)

Waiting for the injury report to make my prediction. Doesn't look like Dallas Goedert is going to play this week, but Lane Johnson might.
I would like to know how the Eagles are 3 point underdogs at home, I had to do a double take on that one.
…and what should it be?
Normal week? I'd say -1, -2 Eagles. But I think the computer is factoring the extra 3 days rest heavily into the equation.

There’s no way an extra 3 days rest is any kind of a real factor. Teams have an extra 7 days rest coming off a bye & it happens all the time. Maybe if the game was on a Thursday & the 9ers were coming off a bye. Plus, the Eagles are at home, which is much more advantageous than an extra 3 days rest, especially with the 9ers traveling cross-country.

The line is due to how both teams have been playing lately. The 9ers don’t look nearly as vulnerable as the Eagles.

Philly has a decent chance at home to upset the 9ers. Should be a good one.

Extra 3 days is an ENORMOUS factor. SF has had a lot of time to prepare, rest, heal, study, etc for this game.... Philly is banged up and coming off 2 really rough and long games in 6 days. Strongly doubt SF would be 6 point faves on a neutral field, if both teams were, say, coming off a bye week.

San Fran is playing on 10 days rest. Next week Dallas will be playing on 10 days rest. NFL did the Eagles no favors with this schedule.

ETA: Also, Lane Johnson is questionable (he'll probably play). Cox is doubtful. Dallas Goedert is doubtful. Cunningham is doubtful. Eagles have a lot of starters that are either not playing or limited.

-3 at Eagles means on a neutral field SF is a 6 point favorite and at home is a -9!? GTFO

I can’t remember the last time I was so hyped for a regular season game. There’s a lot to be said about both teams but in the simplest terms, if Lane plays, the Eagles win. If Lane doesn’t play, SF wins. He’s that important to the way this offense runs.

Well then, it should be easy money then right?

Happy to help you take a loan against your home to cash on this Vegas error.

Well Eagles are a live home dog for sure.
But much like the motivation earlier this year for The Eagles in K.C,I think The Niners have that going for them in this one.
I think The Niners have had this game circled on their schedule since the first day of training camp.
Can extra motivation help a team win? Sure.
Should be one of the funnest games of the year to watch no matter the outcome, but I'll go with...

San Francisco- 30
Philadelphia- 27

They get 3 points for being at home so Vegas think the Eagles are about a TD dog on a neutral field, that's hard to imagine.
Eagles have wins vs Miami, KC and Dallas, all of them are mentioned as possible Super Bowl contenders
I think Philly should be the favorite since they won last year in the NFCC
At worst this should be a pick 'em game, incredible to see SF as a road favorite in this one.

-Maybe Vegas knows
-I'm sure Philly would let this one go for a repeat outcome of the '23 NFCC

I will be tailgating at Lambeau Field during this game for a once-in-a-lifetime visit with my 18 year old son.

Can't wait to read this thread later on.
If there's a thread or post explaining this I would like to see it
Not really.

My son is a senior kicker in high school, and he will be kicking at a D3 school in Wisconsin. Concordia University in Mequon - just north of Milwaukee on the shore of Lake Michigan. We did a football game day visit this fall during the season, so we are going up this weekend for a more in-depth campus tour.

Mainly so he can see the dorms, the layout of the classrooms, hopefully more of the football locker rooms, weight rooms, etc. It will be so he can get an idea in his head on how his living arrangements will be - all that stuff.

We could have gone in the spring but it so happens the Chiefs will be up in Green Bay this weekend. What a coincidence!

So the tour is Sunday morning at 9 and will be done by 1:00. Green Bay is about two hours from campus so we will head up and get there about 3:00 or so and tailgate and hang out. My brother lives in the north Chicago suburbs so he is coming up also with his wife and son. We are also gonna see @gruecd up there - all of us have seats in the lower level within a couple of sections of each other.

I owe grue a visit also since he came to KC the last couple of years when the Packers came here. We are also contemplating a move to Wisconsin in the spring, so this all kind of ties together.

Looking forward to seeing the hallowed ground this weekend. And it should be a good game. Chiefs will have their work cut out for them.

Have a good trip! And congrats on your boy getting a scholarship!

Have a good trip! And congrats on your boy getting a scholarship!
Thank you sir. At the D3 level the "scholarships" come more from academic areas since they don't technically give out athletic scholarships per se. But let's just say the financial aid package is nice and they do recruit these kids to play there. The university has about 2600 kids on campus and a large portion of them are in sports. They have a really healthy and robust amount of athletic programs there. It's pretty impressive actually. And with the financial aid package the cost all in for the year would be about what we would pay for instate room and board here in Kansas.

They have separate facilities and fields for the football team, soccer team, baseball, AND softball.

Just a great fit for him.

I've analyzed this game to death. I got no more hot takes on what it's gonna take to win. Eagles have to control the run on both sides. Period. Keep CMC in check and run Swift.

I can definitely see the Eagles losing this game- the 9ers are a stacked team, and if I'm being honest, on paper and according to stats I'm not surprised Philly is a home dawg.

But this game means something more than just the 1st seed in the play offs (which is HUGE) to both of these teams. And after all the crying and whining by the 49ers players and fans, it would be so satisfying to just shut them up and point to the scoreboard.

Sorry friend, but this “the home team gets 3 points”, is so 20 years ago and not how lines are set or maintained.

If Vegas was so wrong, the public and the heavy bettors would be hammering Eagles side and thus moving this line.

We just aren’t seeing this.

I mentioned in the Eagle team thread, team W/L records overly influence perception. I think we are seeing this to some extent to a very good Eagles team.

They, are not the juggernaut some want to anoint them.

I'm not sure who is really anointing them as juggernauts though. Most of us in here are saying this could definitely be a loss.

My prediction:

27-23 SF

Could the Eagles win this game, hell ya. I don’t like the ML or the Spread here.

For Philly to win, their front 4 and any blitzes have to get home. They cannot lose the turnover battle or give up a big ST play. I also believe that if SF’s D is too aggressive or gives up deep shots this would be hard for them to overcome.

For SF:
I think you will see McCaffery and Kittle give them fits in the passing game. I would bet the overs for yards and reception totals for these 2.

Then look for big chunk plays to Deebo and Aiyuk.

If the SF oline holds up and don’t play overly conservative on offense-they win.

I think it was honestly just 1-2 posters saying that the blueprint for beating the Eagles is:

1. Hurts not playing
2. Win the turnover battle by 4

Other than that, I agree most Eagles fans in here understand that this is a very good team but beatable.

I'm good. Eagles ATS plus some anytime TDs this year and last have been easy money for me.

to be fair its midday Thursday. Lets see where the line is at gametime. My guess is it drops.

Enormous factor? 3 days?

You’ve got to be kidding, lol.

That's one take.

Another is if he plays, the Eagles could still lose. Either way he's prob not gonna be 100%.

Lane vs Bosa is gonna be fun to watch.
Agreed, there's a world in which the Eagles lose with him playing. I think they won't but that's why they play the game. I don't see a world in which he doesn't play and they pull out the win. That's all I'm saying.

Plus, the Eagles are at home, which is much more advantageous than an extra 3 days rest
Agreed
I’ve never heard of a team worrying about 3 days extra rest for their opponent. 3 days is nothing when your team has had a full week’s rest. Home field is the key in this game.

Philly has been studying the 9ers for who knows how long & trust me…their game-planning started well before this week like all teams do with big games. If the Eagles lose, it’s not going to have anything to do with the extra 3 days rest for the 9ers. If they win, it’ll more have to do with home field.

Who said they were worried? Someone asked why the line was what it was. Extra rest is a factor in setting the line. Weather is a factor. Recent play is a factor. Injuries are a factor. Location is a factor.

You really are suggesting that the Eagles were thinking about this 49ers game when they just played the Chiefs,Bills, Cowboys and Dolphins?

That kind of makes no sense, one game at a time for this team. Especially after they learn their lesson losing to the Zac Wilson Jets.

The line is Philly -3 because most of the country, outside the tri-state area, doesn’t believe the Eagles are for real and actively wants them to lose. The betting line is set for whatever Vegas oddsmakers think will get people betting. The line should move back to the Eagles closer to the game.

And I’m not trying to discount that a neutral field, SF probably should be favored. But a 6-point spread? That seems excessive, given their records and SoS. That screams trying to suck in casual money.

Two weeks in a row !!!!!
Lol. There are a lot of things to consider in matchups like injuries, but an extra 3 days rest is a real stretch when a team isn’t on a short week & has had their full 7, especially when your opponent is traveling cross-country. Plus, the 3 days rest doesn’t even come close to home field advantage.

I get that fans obsess about everything, but in reality, this is a nothing-burger.

It’s not the players’ job to think about future games, but surely you know studying/game-planning is started before actual game week, especially with key games.

Your coaches have put in time on the 9ers before this week.

Defensive Snap Counts last 2 weeks:

Eagles: 174
49ers: 127

The 49er defense played 47 fewer snaps and also have 3 days extra rest over the Eagles.

The Eagles also played almost a whole extra quarter against Buffalo.

Those 3 days matter, especially given the style of games Philly has played the past 2 weeks vs the games the Niners played. Ask any player how huge 3 extra days of rest are, they'll tell you.

i believe Lane played with a torn abductor last time they faced each other and I don’t recall Nick Bosa showing up on the stat sheet. In a year where he was DPOY. If Lane plays, I expect him to handle his business again.

And the last time Young faced Mailata, he also was shut out.

The key really for me to be honest it the fact that Cunningham and Cox will be out.

Gonna be a great game either way IMO, unless the Eagles get up by 10-14 early, then it could get ugly quick for SF.

28-24 Eagles is my take.

Last year the Eagles did a lot of RPO which froze the LBs. This year, they aren't doing it as much, I wonder how that will effect the Eagles offense.

Also, Bosa wasn't even trying to pass rush in the NFCCG, he was doing more of a mush rush because they were so scared of Hurts running on them. Should be interesting to see how the 49ers gameplan Hurts. He's the first "running" QB that they have faced this year.

Still talking about that game, even though its Niner fans who cant let it go. Lol. I hope you really think Bosa will be handled by Lane Sunday. Last season, Bosa had 18.5 sacks, but you know what? The next 3 highest sack getters on the team had 5, 4.5, and 3 sacks. So all they had to do was chip and hold like every team does against him, because nobody else was a threat to get to the QB. Also, he was playing through an injury he got on the sideline.

Another that cant stop talking about that game. This is a ridiculous take, but can't say I'm surprised. The hate is strong with this one.

Watch the game again, he was doing a mush rush to see if Hurts was keeping the ball on the RPO. Warner was frozen in place too. It was funny to watch. You have no idea what you're looking at when you watch football do you?

Watch the game again, he was doing a mush rush to see if Hurts was keeping the ball on the RPO. Warner was frozen in place too. It was funny to watch. You have no idea what you're looking at when you watch football do you?

Uhhh sure thing, sport, whatever you say.
