San Francisco at Oakland

They gave it to Gore 12 times, any wonder why they lost?
He averaged 5.3 yards per carry, too. Not too shabby.

Just think of all the 1st downs they could have gotten had they just leaned on him like the old days.

But that would have been too predictable. Can't have that.

What's most frustrating is that it really takes the perfect storm to reach the Superbowl and win. When a team falls apart like this, you know its a long way off before they get there again. HOFers like Willis and Gore may never have a ring.

Are Gore and Willis really HOF'ers? I mean, they're great, don't get me wrong, but are they *that* great?

Bad coaching, to think someone is going to try to trade for this bad coach and his staff, because you know he would bring most.

I see a Hawk fan who forgot most of being in the NFCW here.
You want to give that sentence another try?
Yeah, you don't remember being in the NFCW from 2005 to Pete Carroll.
I guess I should expect you to feel a little salty right now. I wasn't trying to talk smack. Just surprised me that someone mentioned them as no doubt HOFers.

Hey, do you have any opinions on the number of times the 49ers ran the ball?

Ok, Frank Gore is the 49ers all time leading rusher. He leads over HOFer Joe "The Jet" Perry, and Roger Craig.

Willis at one point was almost the entire 49er defense, had a string of games that recorded a buttload of solo tackles from sideline to sideline, and did that consistently for several seasons.

Hey, did you make any post in this thread until you decided to troll?

Yep, I had that really funny line about Donald Penn.

Difference between you and myself,I didn't repeat myself 5 times.

No difference, is you are a sad troll, I was talking about this game all game.

I wonder how many fights are happening in the parking lot right now lol. They already had two before the game.

I was thinking about that. Probably less than to be expected because the Raiders surprisingly won, so the more dangerous types were feeling magnanimous.

Gotta love the cross Bay rivalry man. I wore black there for a reason. Then again, I always wear black anyway.

I respect people that wear enemy colors, but I don't even wear Raiders colors at Pats games. Why risk a scrape? I'm not trying to get punched, or punch someone else, over a football game. That's crazy.

The worst was at the Coloseum in LA. Saw a playoff game (I think it was an AFCC game) between the Pats and Raiders. All kinds of fights broke out in the stadium. Marcus Allen fumbles near the end zone, and it was Armageddon.

The Million Dollar Backfield:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Million_Dollar_Backfield

In 1954, the term was used again to describe the backfield of the San Francisco 49ers, which would go on to produce four Hall of Famers. This 49ers backfield was also referred to in circles as the Fabulous Foursome.
A group of fellas in San Fran calling themselves the Fabulous Foursome? Yeah, I could see that.
Odd words from someone whose fans dress up like it was the Folsom Street Fair.

Hey, cranky pants, that was about as light-hearted a joke as you'll find.

I know man, it's all good.

The funny thing is, and this doesn't get much mention: Al Davis suggested Bill Walsh to DeBartolo Sr. Walsh took Davis' offensive concepts and "shortened" them. More horizontal then vertical, if you will. It's Bay Area football man. HOFers everywhere along with it.

pretty much....

gore is on the bubble
Gore leads over Perry who is a HOFer. I doubt he gets in because Craig somehow can't though.
i have a very healthy respect for gore, just think he has marginal HOF numbers for the era despite:

- being the focal point of the offense for a decent amount of time

- that offense not being very good

- some poor usage over those years

Had Gore played under a Bobb McKittirck coached offensive line for say at least 4 years, he would have reached being the leading rusher faster. Hell, his best season was with Norv Turner as OC. That was only for one season. An aged Larry Allen was on the offensive line then too.

Do you remember Ricky Watters, perfect sweeps, pulling guards, etc? The current o-line isn't even as athletic as McKittricks lines. It's all power, molded at first by Mike Singletary. It's a Singletary offensive line really. It's now eroded fast, and Mike Solari is still coaching it, like he did under Singletary.

He would most definitely have more passes targeted. For sure.
