Sandals Resorts (1 Viewer)

Ok, I have to ask now.

What on Earth does a butler do for you at Sandals???

If you have ever had one there, why did you get one, and did you get any enjoyment out of it?

I guess I just honestly can't imagine having a personal vacation butler in a place where you are pretty much there to relax, drink, go out to eat, and pretty much just hang out. I can't see where a butler even fits in. Seriously, what does he even do?

I cant imagine wanting some dude around doing all that.

The resorts seem pretty sweet though

Probably the big benefits that they do:

-Reserve you a spot on beach or pool so you don't have to get up early in morning and get down there. Already have towels on your chairs.

-Make your reservations at the evening restaurants as you need reservations for most of the dinner restaurants outside of the buffet.

-Run and get you drinks and food throughout the day.

I'd say those are the top 3 things they do.

we did 2 weeks in Jamaica for our honeymoon 20 years ago: 1 at couples ocho rios, the other was sandals negril. preferred sandals. if we lived on the east coast, i would check out st lucia and some of the other islands.

I am just far too low class for that i think:)

I can see the benefits if a guy like that was around to help with my actual responsibilities, but what responsibilities are there on a vacation like that?

Dude will unpack my luggage and fold my clothes??? I dont think i would let him do that if he paid me to do it.

Two things really. I guess i like doing certain things for myself, and i wouldnt want some dude bothering me for stuff all the time.

I can see the appeal, but it aint for me. I'll find my own lounge chair and order my own drinks:)

How many other guests are typically around? Tons of people everywhere??

There is still some work on vacation. Instead, you have a guy you can call for anything:- dinner reservation

- save you a spot at the pool so you don't have to get out there at 8

- bring you a bottle of champagne

- schedule your cabs

- bring you drinks

It's like a mix of a concierge and a personsl waiter. It's not necessary, but there would be perks. It's not a guy that dresses you in the morning or flushes the toilet for you. Those are valets.

How much to these trips run?
I want to say ours was ~$3200 for a week, not counting flights.

ETA: That was for the base room, but we did it through one of those Sandals specific travel agents from TA and she got us upgraded to a pretty nice suite (would have been around $5k if I recall) for free.
Care to PM the contact for the agent you used?
Thanks to FreeBaGel for the contact. Apparently though, that travel agent is no longer doing business with Sandals. According to the agent, Sandals makes a huge difference between their entry level guests and their club level and higher paying guests. Said they had numerous customers that were thrilled with their Sandals experience, but many that weren't. Reports of not being able to get chairs the pool and beach because of the butlers reserving them and of not being able to get dinner reservations because they hold a large amount of tables for club and elite level customers.
