Savannah, GA? Anybody been there? (1 Viewer)

Plan on spending a day there next week while passing through Georgia. Anybody have any recommendations on what to check out and where to stay?

Looks like the Historic Downtown district is the place to check out. Rooms in Midtown - Abercorn seem to be much cheaper but I'm having a hard time determining if that area is a bit iffy. Some reviews for various hotels in that area seem to allude to that thought, but others paint a much nicer picture of the area.

Any local FBGs have any advice on the area?

I spent an afternoon there once. Absolutely love that locale. I lucked out and got a tour of a fancy as #### tall ship that was docked.

Thanks! I've been to Charleston a few times. LOVE that city. We like to stay at Folley Beach for a week and hit Charleston a couple days.

I'd also suggest checking out Hunting Beach State Park near Beaufort, SC (about halfway between Charleston and Savannah). I've been there twice, about this time of year. Climate is near perfect and crowds are non-existent.

If you like history, stay at The Marshall House, where Sherman's troops were put up during the occupation of Savannah. No schtick... it's a neat place if you enjoy that sort of thing.
