You knew that it would finally come, and now it's here: Per yard scoring for every offensive yard! How about having every action on a football field recorded and scored? Finally, aren't you ready to have all of the actions of the players on your fantasy team measured and recorded in your league? Year after year, the same complaints surface about the fact that players are not getting the points that they deserve. Now you don't have to live that way anymore.
Offense only accounts for 50% of all of the activity of a football team; why should your fantasy team not receive credit for all of the actions of its players? In the leagues of the Mountain Football Association, every action of every player that results in a statistic being recorded by the NFL, excluding assisted tackles (which are no measurement of the individual effort of a player), is recorded and scored for the benefit of the fantasy football owner. The fact is that without a good head coach, special teams effort, and a solid defensive performance, NO NFL TEAM CAN WIN THE SUPER BOWL. Why should that be different than what happens in your fantasy league? Now they can be the same.
It became very tiring, year after year, when I found myself in a league where it seemed that the only teams that could win were those that had been stacked and loaded with only the best offensive players. It just seemed so boring to me. When I go to an NFL game, I watch the entire field during the game, not just what the offensive players are doing on any given play. And on 4th down, where are those offensive players? They are sitting on the sidelines.
Ten years ago I decided to see if I could do better, and became determined to come up with a better fantasy football game. As of today, I don't believe that I can do any better than with what I have created: The leagues of the Mountain Football Association.
As an owner in one of our three leagues, you have a voice in what happens in the league. When you have a complaint, your complaint is heard and reviewed for both justification and resolution. If there is an error in scoring, you have the ability to get it corrected in an easy to use process. There are prizes every week to compete for, and even if you don't make the playoffs, the consolation ladder will offer you a chance to make up for a bad season.
If it were possible to have all of these things and for it to be a free thing, and still have the knowledge that all of the owners would be making a real effort to compete each week, then they would all be free. However, my experience in over 25 years of fantasy games tells me that unless the owners have a stake in what they are doing, by the middle of the season, more than half of the owners will simply stop competing.
I realize we all have a choice in 2010 on where we will compete in fantasy football during the NFL season; I hope that you will decide to do things differently and consider spending your time with us in the Mountain Football Association. Take a look at our offerings, and see what we will have next season. We use escrow accounts, an independent accounting firm, and payouts are made by cashier's check; all to ensure the integrity of what we do as a firm. We are a fully licensed Arizona business, and look forward to serving your fantasy football needs in the 2010 NFL season.
