Scoring System Question #1 (1 Viewer)

***Official FBG Dentist***
In league #1 that I play in:

12 teams.

Starting Lineup Req:

1 QB

1 RB

2 WR

1 TE

1 Flex RB/WR/TE

1 K

1 Def

All TD's 6 points

All points are given for COMBINED Yards (pass/rush/receive) not individualized.

QB - 1 pt per 25 yards total -2 for int's

RB - 1 pt per 10 yards gained

WR - 1 pt per 10 yards + 0.5 PPR

TE - 1 pt per 10 yards + 1.0 PPR

Tell me some players you'd target or avoid based on this non-traditional scoring system

and should the entire first round still be RB's ? with having to start only one.. but likely two. what say you.. the Draft Dominator still seems very RB dominant... although Gates is a first round pick in this system per VBD, and WR's are heavy in round 2-3

what do you think?
good question.I think that I should treat the flex as a 2nd RB and probably take 2 RB's in the first two rounds... in the 3rd I should target Gates if possible, or a big-time WR...I'd say QB's are very run of the mill. However, Peyton Manning could be pretty solid in this system too.the 0.5 PPR for WR's while RB's get none certainly reduces the dominance RB's have over WR's.

if you're drafting early, it certainly shouldn't impact the value at all.

That said, you need to have 1 RB that hits for sure, so you almost have to draft one in the first round unless you're picking late.

If you are picking late, I wouldn't hesitate to take a guy like Torry Holt and then follow up with another WR, then take my chances on Lewis/Dillon/etc on the 3/4 turn.

Because you only need 1 RB (and flex), RBs will slide later than they should, and there is plenty of value to be had.

In other words, if you really felt good about your own projections/predictions, you should wait on a RB if you're late, and certainly if you're early only take 1 RB and then wait.

What you want to do is get one guy that is a lock, and then get 2-3 that are hit or miss med-risk RBs in the early-middle rounds (5-7). If one of them hits, you have a pro flex. If not, you'll still have a sure-handed WR in his place (dime a dozen).

If you're picking late, take an extra med-risk RB that you KNOW will start the season (DeShaun Foster, Dominic Rhodes, etc), and then balance him out with 2-3 other med-risk RBs (White, DWill, Dillon, Dunn, McAllister, etc).

Hope this helps.

In this format it's imperative to have 2 sure-fire WRs (top-15 if you can). Don't hesitate to pass on a decent RB for a solid WR.

Depending on your draft slot.

Top/Middle - I'd go RB/Gates/WR/RB

End - I'd go WR/Gates

If Gates isn't there in the 2nd go RB/WR/WR/RB. You only need to carry 2-3 RB as long as you get a couple of their backups. No need letting the elite WR go by you while you take mediocre RB.

The TE and WR position gets a boost in scoring...

You will not get Gates in the 3rd with owners half way awake in that scoring system...

Last year gates would have outscored the #2 TE by almost 60 points... and would have been in the WR 8-10 range (just eyeballing the numbers)

Do you know your draft position? Then how can you say RB-RB???

Have you actually played in the format before??? Played with these owners? Redraft/Keeper?

Your rushing QB's drop in value, your high pick guys drop in value... your traditional QB's get a slight boost....

Before you jump the gun on RB/RB, consider that the top 10 WR should all score as much as the #10 RB...

So the 1/2 point for reception for WR with 0 for RB is a big boost....

Your goal is to get the highest scoring starting lineup... RB/RB isn't the for sure answer in this format.

Like to see what your draft position is

Looks to me that Gates would be top priority if you pick in the 8-12 area. Him and a top 5 WR (if you can get one with your 2) in your lineup each week would kill.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I like a strat of RB/Gates/WR or RB/ then WR or RB

No, we pick our draft position out of a hat before the draft. So I just won't know

Redraft. Yes, i've played a year, but now I want to be shark in this sytem.

Your rushing QB's drop in value, your high pick guys drop in value... your traditional QB's get a slight boost....

rushing QB's i agree are worthless. yes, peyton manning, brady, palmer even better

Before you jump the gun on RB/RB, consider that the top 10 WR should all score as much as the #10 RB...

yes, the top RB's are still better than WR's, but the RB's do drop off fast.

So the 1/2 point for reception for WR with 0 for RB is a big boost....

Like to see what your draft position is just won't get that info before the date
