Scotch Eggs (1 Viewer)

Scotch Egg is a hardboiled egg, wrapped in sausage, coated in light breading, and fried. I found them the other day, and enjoyed eating it, but wonder why this isn't a bigger player in the US.

It's fried. It's sausage-y. It has protein for the workout dudes. SHouldn't this have been the main feature of state fair or something?

They are great, kind of a pain to do at home though - would be my guess. You can get the same intake scrambling it all up or making some of those "all egg muffins" for the paleo set.

Actually they are pretty easy to make at home. I usually make them a couple times during football season. They are great for tailgating.

I was thinking more about the deep frying. Dragging that deep fryer out, and messing with the grease/oil. Do you reuse your relatively clean oil?

I usually just do them up in a wok. Much less oil is required. I pitch the oil because the outside coating is breadcrumbs and some if it falls off and sinks to the bottom.

this is a good idea.

Ive had a few from a local food truck, they are delicious. Don't think I'd wanna make them at home though.
