Scott Walker WI governor vs the Packers & teachers (1 Viewer)

Walker cleaned the floor with Burke. Wow, she was terrible. She even invented a new word: "rebuttled".

Yes, I watched it. :bag:

she has issues within her own party.. when you hear democrats say "I'm not thrilled she's our option but it's better than Walker" it's a bad sign when your only chance to win is rally the troops and all you get is

Didn't watch it, but it's impossible for me to believe that Walker "cleaned the floor" with anyone. Watching paint dry would be more interesting than listening to that guy.

Well, then maybe you should have watched it.

Walker was cool, calm, confident and had an answer for everything Burke threw out. Burke, stumbled, cited old data and looked like she was reading off of cue cards the entire time. She had a couple times where there was a huge, pregnant pause as she was searching her notes for an answer. And then when asked to rebut on one of them, she said "Well, I already rebuttled". The moderator had to explain to her that she got another option to rebut because of the followup question.

She's clearly out of her league and not a very good candidate. It really was hard to watch her. Even I was embarrassed.

This is one example.

http://www.politicususa.com/2014/10/10/democrat-mary-burke-dominates-scott-walker-wisconsin-governor-debate.html

Democratic candidate for governor Mary Burke dominated Gov. Scott Walker in the first debate between the two Wisconsin candidates. Walker was on the defensive and was repeated pressed for dodging questions. Walker looked clueless, while Burke seemed ready to be governor.

Im sure cr8f loved her...but Im too afraid to click the link to his twitter again.

Wow, that is some insanity going on there.

By the way, that's a progressive site so I don't trust them either. It's just funny that it's the exact opposite of what Max wrote.

Walker isn't in jail yet? Looks like Ed Schultz and MSNBC got that wrong.

Unabashedly liberal MSNBC host Ed Schultz appeared to be on the verge of tears last night, as it became clear that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker had survived his recall challenge.

Broadcasting live from Milwaukee, Schultz was initially skeptical of the results, even after his own network called the race for the Republican at around 10 p.m. The MSNBC host has been one of the most outspoken Walker critics since the beginning of the recall battle last year, making no effort to hide his support for Wisconsin's labor unions.

"You know, NBC is calling it for Walker," Schultz told viewers last night. "Okay, I think it's awful close and there's a lot of absentee ballots yet that are still out and it's going to be very, very close down to the wire. So it's disappointing, I know, if this is going to be the result."

He added a few minutes later that Walker "could be indicted in the next few days," although he didn't give any evidence to back up that seemingly wild assertion.

Anyhow Max, what I was talking about before has nothing to do with Walker's politics, or his skills as a governor. On that score, I used to dislike him, but I've come to respect him a little more. (And I felt a lot of sympathy when the Dems tried to recall him- that was bush league, and I'm glad it failed.)

It's his delivery. The guy is one of the more boring politicians I've heard in years. No energy, no charisma. It amazes me that some people think he's going to run for President someday.

Not tonight. He's clearly improved since you've last seen him.

Just imagine how bad Burke was when she couldn't hold up to a guy with no energy or charisma. And yes, I did watch the debate. Believe it or not, Burke is that bad.

They had that posted before the debate was even over.
Whereas you had an open mind the whole way through, right?
As opposed to you having an open mind, who doubted Walker cleaned the floor without even seeing the debate?
Only because I think he's dull.

That's certainly open minded. From Dan Bice tweet - political columnist at he Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which very strongly leans liberal

"I just re-watched Walker's first debate in 2010 campaign. He was very stiff. Today, he acts like he's having fun."

Tim, do you know anything about Mary Burke, other than she's the democratic candidate for WI governor?

She needs crib notes reminding herself to emanate warmth and strength.

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/278010711.html

She plagarized her economic plan from other candidates plans and struggled to define plagarism:

She's not good. It amazes me the democrats couldn't find a better candidate
I've never heard of her. Doesn't sound very good.

That's a no.

Just another Walker/Republican hater chiming in, much like urbanhack, trolling away

To quote a teacher, yes an educated teacher..... " I would vote for a monkey over Walker because he's not Walker"

Yes sir, that right there is a true educated response. Would have expected it out of her 2nd grade student.

Maybe she used to, but she hasn't done anything the last 7 years. Hasn't worked, hasn't done anything since she was thrown off Doyles staff.

And it needs to be stated that SHE doesn't build nice bikes, her Daddy and Brother do. She's highly unqualified for most jobs, let alone Governor. But then again, so was Obama and he got voted in anyways.

Hate to tell you Max but my daughter's vote is going to cancel yours out.

He did not clean the floor with her. She did not dominate. Honestly I would say it was close to a draw. Burke gave far more direct answers, but did come off a few times as a buffoon. Walker is obviously way more polished than he used to be(I guess he should be since it is his third campaign), but he still gives me that vibe of being deceptive.

I do really like Act 10 as I hate unions, but that is really all I like about Walker and obviously without the senate it wouldn't have passed so it isn't like he did it all solo.

This debate is just more proof of why I hate politicians and wouldn't vote for either of these dolts. Although I guess I shouldn't really blame politicians and should blame people. If a candidate gave strong direct answers, they would be torn to pieces by the media or misrepresented in political ads and then that info would be lapped up by people that just believe everything they hear on TV.

Is it because "Anything is better than Walker"?

Why does she feel Burke is more qualified?

Mr. Pack.. It is the "Anyone is better then Walker"

It is the only way to explain how someone as bad as Burke, who plagiarized her Job plan and then says "Oh well, most of the job plan is mine even if we stole most of it" can be in a dead heat right now.

She has no idea what the hell she is doing, but the democrats will vote for her, while holding their noses, just because she isn't Walker..

It is all going to come down to voter turnout. Hopefully it turns out like the recall and the drive to keep Walker is stronger then the "Hold their nose's" group..

I have no idea whether this is true or not. But I do find it interesting that everyone who has asserted this in this thread is a conservative who would likely vote for any Republican rather than a Democrat.

That would be great but check the date of the article - the debate was Friday night. Latest Marquette poll (which has been pretty accurate during the recall elections) showed Walker with a 5 point lead, with the gap widening among likely voters.

Let him keep going. I bet he didn't watch the debate yet.

Just for Tim though, I've been yelling Burke's name over and over to all of my students. This week I went to a couple of malls to do the same.

It's amazing how a guy who admits he knows nothing about Mary Burke, hasn't seen the debate, lives in another state, somehow paints himself as an expert on Scott Walker and the WI governor's race. Sometimes it's OK to not have an opinion on something. But those of us that live in the state, are affected by Walker's decisions on a daily basis, follow the politics of the state, only support Walker because we are conservative and would vote for Walker no matter what.

I'm not rooting for Mary Burke. I really couldn't care less. Just think it's funny how strident some conservatives are in supporting Scott Walker.

And no, I haven't watched the debate and have no intention of doing so. Why would I? Scott Walker is a boring little weasel of a man; the less I see of him the better.

So you know nothing about Mary Burke.

Haven't seen the debate.

And come in here and declare Mark Burke the winner of the debate based on a NY Times article written before the debate.

Thanks for your non-biased and informed opinion.

I didn't declare anything. "Looks like she might have won the debate." That's a speculative comment. Who knows who won?
