FRESNO STATE

OFFENSE

TOM BRANDSTATER QUARTERBACK (6'5 225) SENIOR

Fresno State Player Page

Season Stats: 208-348 (59.8 %) 2478 yards, 17 tds 11 Ints (129.4 passer rating)

Brandstater has the prototype size for an NFL quarterback. Unfortunately, he has mediocre skills. He played better than he did v. Rutgers, but he makes some very questionable decisions, as evidenced by his pitch and catch with the COlorado State Defensive End. He has no mobility. Based on the 2 Fresno State games I have scouted, he does not warrant being drafted.

ANTHONY HARDING, RUNNING BACK (6'0 215) JUNIOR

Fresno State Player Page

Season Stats: 129 rushes 702 yards (5.4 ypc), 4 tds; 12 rec. 115 yards

Wow. Where was he in the Rutgers game? Made great quick initial cuts when he saw an opening at the line. Set up blocks in the open field. Did a great job of following blocks on traps and sweeps. Explosive when he gets to the line, can accelerate quickly once he sees the hole. Capable pass blocker, not afraid to step up to make a block. No wasted motion once he gets through the hole. Great vision.

LONYAE MILLER, RUNNING BACK (5'11 215) JUNIOR

Fresno State Player Page

Season Stats: 107 carries, 699 (6.5 yards)

He runs hard. Finds the hole and goes. North South runner, showed great leg strength on several of his runs.

BEAR PASCOE, TIGHT END (6'5 260) SENIOR

Fresno State Player Page

Season Stats: 37 rec. 361 yards (9.8 avg) 4 tds

Dropped some crucial passes in this game. Once again was inconsistent in the running game, but when he is focused, he can be an elite blocker. Got quick release off the line, is tough to knock off his routes. Definitely draftable and could develop into a starter at the next level.

SEYI AJIROTUTU, WIDE RECEIVER (6'3 210) JUNIOR

Fresno State Player Page

Season Stats: 44 rec. 714 yards (16.2 avg), 5 tds

Wasn't very impressed with his route running, but he showed solid hands and it is evident he is very fast. Has a little trouble adjusting to the deep ball. Someone to watch next year.

BOBBY LEPORI, LEFT TACKLE (6'5 290) SENIOR

Fresno State Player Page

After this game, I am even more convinced he should move to guard in the pros. Made some good downfield blocks, did a solid job of shielding the end from running plays when he was the backside tackle (which was often). He offers solid value late Day 2 for a team that wants a guard who has the versatility to occasionally fill in as a tackle.

ANDREW JACKSON, RIGHT GUARD (6'5 295) SOPHOMORE

Fresno State Player Page

Great game in every facet. Pulled on sweeps, traps, counter tres. Worked well with his center. Fired off the ball, and showed great knowledge of blocking. Made some great reach blocks, and pancaked several defenders. I would like to see him tried as a tackle, think he might have a future there as well. Might not be athletic enough as a LT, but he could be a monster as a Right Tackle. Definite Pro Potential.

DEFENSE

BEN JACOBS, MIDDLE LIENBACKER (6'3 240) SOPHOMORE

Fresno State Player Page

Definitely a work in progress. He hustles, but he just doesn't show enough quickness, or strength right now. Not afraid to take on blockers, but that often results in him lying on his back. Might be better suited as an OLB.

MOSES HARRIS, STRONG SAFETY (5'11 205), JUNIOR

Fresno State Player Page

Terrible game. He is a liability in pass coverage, he did not do a good job of providing help in the secondary. He made a couple of nice hits, but he was also blocked easily by a slot receiver on several plays. He also missed a couple of tackles and took horrible angles.

COLORADO STATE

OFFENSE

BILLY FARRIS, QUARTERBACK (6'3 223) SENIOR

Colorado State Player Page

Season Stats: 216-350 (61.7 %) 2677 yards 17 tds 12 INTS (135.1 passer rating)

Not a pro prospect. Slow delivery, puts too much air under his passes. Not accurate at all.

GARTRELL JOHNSON, RUNNING BACK (6'0 225) SENIOR

Player Page

Season Stats: 251 carries 1191 yards (4.7 ypc) 10 tds; 27 rec. 205 yards

Steamroller. Thick lower body, great leg drive. Doesn't show good vision, and is not a burner. Hits the hole hard, and then just keeps his legs moving and keeps his shoulders down. Surprised me as a receiver as well. He is a below average blocker. Tough to gauge based on Fresno State's horrid defense, but he should at least get drafted.

KORY SPERRY, TIGHT END (6'6 250) SENIOR

Player Page

Season Stats: 37 rec. 470 yards (12.7 avg) 5 TDS

Very overrated player. Terrible blocker. Looked lazy when running his routes. Inviting target for jump balls, but he does not look like a pro prospect.

SHELLEY SMITH, GUARD (6'4 290) JUNIOR

Player Page

See my above comments on Andrew Jackson. They looked like the same players. Great game.

Been watching this one...

Johnson is good at winning collisions and instinctively gets lower than the tackler, also have to think he's got great conditioning because his second gear looked like a fifth gear at the end of the game against a tired D. He looks like a less shifty Green-Ellis. I could definitely see him hanging on a practice squad or making it as a 3rd RB.

Ajirotutu also has terrific body control and definitely is an NFL athlete at WR.

Brandstater will get drafted and some QB coach will be convinced he can make him into an NFL QB. I agree that he won't end up being one, but teams are always too tempted by a QB with his size and quick release.

Always love seeing these posts

Brandstater is an absolute bust waiting to happen. Not just this game, although you could say that, but if he was anything he would have done something, anything with that team this year. They had talent and he had every opportunity to show something.

Gartrell surprised me on that last run; it was better than his first break-away. He could make it somewhere -- as long as he's willing work hard like Cecil Sapp did.

Kory Sperry looked better than Bear (slow), who's projected much higher. Sperry's been forgotten because of his ACL, along with CSU's fall into obscurity, which, might add, has officially been arrested by Steve Fairchild.

Yep, Fairchild has CSU back to being CSU again...and I could not be happier.

I was not impressed with Kory Sperry. He was rarelty asked to play on the line, and when asked to block, he did a very poor job. He runs sloppy routes, and looks lazy getting off the line. His height makes him an asset in the red zone, but I don't see a pro prospect.
