Screw You Kimmell (1 Viewer)

No big deal. Learn to laugh at yourself. Fantasy football is fun, but it is kind of dorky. I'll admit it. I just don't care.

Agree Completely.... why would the NFL put this guy on.... we're (fantasy players) becoming a big part of thier bread and butter... :( Idiot indeed.

Stepped away from the TV for a few minutes...what did he say?

He called Fantasy players "idiots."
I could care less what he thinks ever since he ripped Detroit. He's not funny and it baffles me he has a job. He's worse than Nick Bakay which I didn't think was possible... :boxing:

i actually agree that he has been riding the man show wave for quite a while - but he was pretty funny at the Pam Anderson roast.

what was that line? All you need is on Sunday is to watch football with a bunch of mozerella sticks and that's all the fantasy you need!

I have come to realize that anyone that states you are a geek(or other word) if you participate in fantasy football only do so because they know they would not be able to come close to doing well at it.

lighten up francis.

it was schtick.
It is interesting though that the NFL's half time entertainment would be a joke on a very large group of its fan base.
Don't know about that, I would bet there are WAY more people who watch that aren't in fantasy football. At least I know tons more people who won't play fantasy sports but watch football religiously.

"At least I know tons more people"Smoo, you are wanted in this thread.

It really wasn't even that funny. If you are going to hang yourself out there, then you at least need good material. And BTW, does anyone even watch his show?

I didn't say the largest group. Just a very large group and its growing all the time. I will also challenge that alot of those people you say wont play fantasy sports are actually people who have not played fantasy sports and will get into it in the future. And I challenge you that everyone of those people is friends with someone who plays fantasy sports.

Just about everyone I know who follows football plays fantasy also. I never thought what's-his-name was funny anyway. Adam Corolla (sp?) carried the show, IMO.

Is Smoo your buddy? If you can't watch a game and laugh at JK no offense but you need to lighten up.

there are WAY more pure NFL fans (no FF) than FF players - WAY MORE.But we are WAY more into the game.

With the amount of angry rips on people in here, I would say Jimmy was correct on his rip at halftime, don't you agree?

Really?? Wow, never caught that, he's a sly, smart one...

yup - we take ourselves way too seriously. The NFL is just a game - and FF is even one more step below that in the "it's just a game" category.

Fun - I love it - but I certainly don't get pissy when someone who doesn't like or doesn't understand the game makes fun of it.

If anyone needs to lighten up around here it's you.

People in fantasy football leagues getting miffed because a comedian makes fun of them.Gee, I wonder why he thinks you're geeks/idiots.

I don't care what Kimmel's apologists are going to say. You DON'T bite the hand that feeds you. Fantasy football is good for the NFL and they know it. The league should be pissed. And if they knew about it, then they're a bunch of idiots.

Hmmm I keep seeing all of these posts on a fantasy football forum during a game. Me thinks the pot is calling the kettle black.

last time i checked, kimmel works for an entertainment corporation, not the NFL.ABC pays the NFL to make broadcasts - the NFL benefits from FF, but I doubt ABC does.

If I was upset or bothered by whatever it is he said, then you'd be correct. Instead I'm realizing more and more just how many "geeks" really do play fantasy football.Lighten up guys.

Same corporation that owns ESPN so they obviously benefit a little bit. haha

How?only the NFL benefits from FF - the broadcast stations really don't.

am I missing something obvious?

if you removed the NFL, FF dies - if you removed FF, I'd still watch just as much NFL.

If I didn't play FF, I would likely only watch the Vikes on Sundays. However, since I have some stake in every game going, I'll watch as many games as I can. They get more viewers because of FF.

If you don't think the NFL has control over how their product is presented, then you don't have a very realistic view of what goes on behind the scenes.

gato - the NFL has NO control over what comedy comes out of Kimmel's mouth.Seriously, we need to back away from FF sometimes and gain some perspective (like I'm one to talk).

My perspective is that the millions of people who play FF (including you and me) are paying customers of the NFL and the companies that sponsor ABC. Whatever business you're in, you don't ridicule your customer base. Hell, you don't ridicule even potential customers. That's just plain dumb. Tell me I'm wrong.

More people here pissed about this that the Desperate Housewives/TO schtick. What is the world coming to?

you are wrong - ABC/ESPN get their money from advertisers and from cable co.s - not from the NFL.They PAY the NFL to broadcast their games.

You may not ever watch Kimmel again, but I sincerelty doubt you will boycott an NFL game on ABC just b/c of that comedy schtick.

FF players are NOT ABC's customers. we happen to be NFL fans who also play a game based on the NFL.

Finally - this was KIMMELL doing SCHTICK not the "voice of ABC" dissing FF

Seriously, guys, lighten up. It's one thing to diss Kimmel for this - quite another to think that anything he has to say in a comedy bit at halftime of an NFL game affects the NFL's attitude towards FF or ABC's bottom line.
