Scrub player / miracle game (1 Viewer)

I was just thinking of this because I'm playing a division rival this week who beat me once last season when he picked up Az-zahir Hakim, started him, and watched as Hakim went off for 6-100-TD + 145 ret.yds. The scrubby WR was the difference in the game, hadn't produced before and never produced again.

Just wanted to commiserate.

Sylvester Morris - KC - 2000

Week 3 vs SDG

6-112-3

Didn't score a TD in any other hame that season and only topped 70 yards one other time.

I lost a SuperBowl game in 1999 when Chris Calloway scored his first 2 "TDS" of the season against me.

Plus he was a last minute injury replacement.

I remember in this one league about 3 or 4 years ago, this guy was starting like 3 players on bye, and I just penciled in a win (this was a low-key friends league), and that was the weak CMart and Rich Gannon combined for like 80pts.... was some bull####.

In 2004 I started the Browns Andre Davis he had one reception in the entire game but it went for 99 yards and a TD in week 6 against the bengals- With the long TD bonus I beat another owner.Later the same year I lost a game on a completely meaningless thow to Johnson, Keyshawn; the game was a complete blowout and they should have just run the ball until the clock ran out. The completion was for 2 yards that just happened to give him 10 total for the game which caused me to lose by 1 point (no decimal scoring).

Nothing worse than losing to the backup to the backup of your stud RB. In 2003, I owned Marshall Faulk and his handcuff Lamar Gordon. They both were hurt and the team I was playing had an earlier waiver wire pick. He grabbed future HOFer Arlen Harris out from under me, who in his one and only game as a starter had almost 100 yards and 3 TD and single handedly beat the snots out of my team.

I was beat by the same player. My opponent picked him up just before the game as a last minute fill in. :wall:

Someone in my league started Hank Baskett last week. Not against me, but they won by like 6 pts. Losing Owner was like  :X :bag:

Chris Boniol...

Dallas vs. Green Bay...

Nov. 18, 1996...

Monday Night Football...

He kicked 7 field goals...7...not 4...not 5...not 6...but 7...7 (blanking) field goals.

I had entered the night with a 20 point lead. The other guy had Boniol.

I don't ever remember being that :hot: over a FF loss.

I lost last week in one league to "the rebuilding team". His roster was so short he started Alex Smith, Arnaz Battle and Maurice Hicks - and managed to get fantasy points for 6 TD's out of the SF offense!

I suppose these are all ptts stories, but a fun thread nonetheless.

2003 week 7, I don't remember who my RBs were, but they were more or less good that year. The guy I'm playing against has Garrison Hearst who had been struggling all year and was going up against the vaunted Tampa D on the road. His RB2 is Stacey Mack who would finish the year with 250 rushing yards and was replaced in the starting lineup by Domanick Davis that very week. Very TD heavy league and I was pretty certain I was in for an easy win. Stacey Mack gets 4 carries, 13 yards and two ####### goalline vulture TDs.

San Francisco routed defending Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay and Hearst had his best game of the season, putting up 150 & 1.

I've lost to plenty, most recently Drew Bennett last year. Not a scrub player mind you, but he didn't do anything all season and then goes off for 100+ and 2TDs.

But in my first year in FF, I needed a RB desperately for a bye week fill in. Saw that the Browns were starting Travis Prentice due to injuries. He ended up scoring 3TDs. I ended up in the playoffs because of that win and won the Championship.

Unfortunately, I've only won one championship since then, losing in 4 of my 6 Super Bowls.

But that week was a very cool week. Especially since earlier in the year I lost to the guy starting Brunell and Jimmy Smith when they hooked up for 200+ yards and 3TDs.
