I see a lot of Steelers and Seahawks fans saying they are hoping for a good game, which I assume means a victory in a close-fought battle. But I wonder how much of that is BS and would they really rather crush the opponent and sail away with an easy win?

So time to 'fess up. If you are a fan of either the Steelers or Seahawks, what kind of game do you want?

As a Bears fan, I know this question doesn't apply to me. BUT, I will say that Super Bowl XX was VERy enjoyable for me, and I absolutely loved the way the Bears crushed the Pats. It did not take away from my enjoyment at all.

Steeler fan here... would love a complete blowout by the black & gold.My view is that "general" fans want a good (close) game; Fans typically want total domination, ie blowouts.Specific-team fans looking for good, close games are either lying or they are masochists.

I vote for Steeler blowout. So much more fun to dance early and often and not sit on your hands on each play

I voted close game, but only if there are no excuses afterwards. I don't want to hear about Matt Hasselbeck's ingrown toenail or how Tatupu had the runs just before gametime.I prefer the close wins to the blowouts. That 36-33 playoff win over Cleveland a few years ago was the most satisfying I can remember.

Good game is the easy answer. When a Super Bowl becomes a classic, like say the Rams/Patriots, it makes the win that much more special and gets shown over and over on TV. No one cares about a blowout win in the Superbowl - who is going to remember Ravens/Giants or Bucs/Raiders?

If the Seahawks win, I predict the over-riding opinion will be that the Steelers lost the game for this reason and that reason... rather than the Seahawks went out and won the football game.

Defensive, are we? Nothing in this thread even suggests anything that disrespects the Seahawks.

I am not defensive at all. I was just stating an observation.I wasn't making reference to anyone in this thread or anyone on this board. I was just pointing out that, based on what I have heard during the hawks playoff run from the national media, that the slant will be why the Steelers lost and not why the Hawks won.

Yeah, and the same doesn't apply the other way. Palmer's leg, Plummer's flu, Bailey's drop, Vanderjagt's miss, etc...etc...etc...

:goodposting: On one hand I would like to see Seattle totally wipe them out. On the other I would like to see Seattle go 85 yards with 1:40 on the clock and win by 3. In the middle of that drive all of the fans (who are not Steeler fans) sway to the Seahawk side and go nuts. No excuses for the Steeler's loss, Seattle's offense was just to good.

Evilgrin: I have not once mentioned any of those things and I have not heard any of those excuses coming from any of the national media. Now there are posters that have brought that stuff up. I haven't. Like I said, I wasn't making reference to anyone on this board. I was speaking to the national perception of the Seahawks.

That's what I'm referring to also, and I hope it didn't sound like I was attacking you. I have hear at least 40 times on Sirius NFL Radio the past few days... "Well, the Steelers have had a lot of balls bounce their way...." or "A lot of things broke right for the Steelers...." or "If Palmer hadn't gone down, Pittsburgh might not even be here....." or "If Bailey catches that ball, that game maybe goes a whole different way....."Trust me, that egg breaks both ways.

When the game is actually happening, you always would rather see a blowout (it makes the game less stressful), but once it is over, a close win can often be more satisfying, especially when it is a game that will historically go down as one of the greats. *thinks of Super Bowl XXXII* :D :D :D :D

Got it. No problems.

I hope it's a close game. I was nearly blinded by all those empty yellow seats in the 4th quarter of last years Patriots-Steelers playoff game. ;)

Wow I can't believe that Steeler fans (or Seahawks fans for that matter) are actually voting for a close win. What better way to finally get the respect that these 2 teams deserve than winning a blowout? I definitely want to see a blowout for that purpose alone.

I don't ####### care. At all.

I live in a city where it just rained 27 days in a row and it wasn't a record. The last professional national championship my city had came about six months after I was born. My earliest sports memories are my dad taking me to the Kingdome. I've been a fan of Seahawks teams lead by Stan Gelbaugh, Rick Mirer, Dan McGuire, and Kelly Stouffer. I watched our last playoff game in Miami where we just got manhandled in the 4th and had a chance to win the game. I was at the Rams game in week 4 last year where we lost a big lead late, then the game in overtime. I was at the Rams playoff game when Engram dropped the pass last year. Now I'm going to the Super Bowl to watch my perennial bastions of mediocrity play to win the biggest football game in the world.

My friend, I don't care if they win by one point, 3 points, 10 points, 100 points, or by forefit. I just want them to win the damn game.
I feel your pain bro---Pittsburgh rains nearly as much as Seattle. We have had a few championships though (albeit not too many in my lifetime) so I can't complain about that.

FixedGreat game, but that was Marino's last great moment... then DolFan's watched him end his career the next week, in that 62-7 nightmare in Jacksonville :X

Let's make it an 86 yard TD pass, and then we all get a Free PizzaI'm rooting for Seattle, but think Pittsburgh will win in a close game.

For me, the Seahawks finally making it to the Super Bowl is a huge victory. ANY KIND of win on Sunday would be sweet. Excuses and whinning won't be necessary for either team. I'm not sure why that concept is even be being floated in Seattle's direction. Big Ben is the one who has claimed a nonexistent injury as an excuse for a poor performance in the playoffs last year. Even during the lowest point in Seahawks history (Bo knocking Bosworth on his butt into the endzone) Seattle fans have not tried to validate the embarrasement. We simply hung our heads in shame.
