Seahawks after McNabb or Kolb (1 Viewer)

Yesterday, we considered whether or not this would be Donovan McNabb's final year in Philly, but during an appearance on 97.5 FM in Philadelphia, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio updated the situation regarding the Philadelphia Eagles' top two QBs, and it's a doozy: The Seattle Seahawks have been calling the Eagles "non-stop" about McNabb and Kevin Kolb.

Paolantonio added that Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is in win-now mode, and apparently this means he doesn't think Matt Hasselbeck is part of that mandate.

Pete Carroll needs to be reasonable and realise that even with Peyton Manning that team is not suitable for "win now mode"

The Seahawks would be absolutely foolish to go after

McNabb instead of Kolb.

There is no window for McNabb to win a championship in Seattle.

Kolb is the only answer for Pete Carroll.

Unless they are giving up an excessive amount, I can't see any reason that the Eagles would trade Kolb. He has been groomed for the position, and it is his time to take the reigns.

49ers need to jump in on this, with a good QB, a little O-line and secondary help they could contend for it all, without a good QB they might be one and done in the playoffs as a best case scenario.

Why not McNabb is still a very good Qb and he has some years left plus you can then trade Hass for something and use their other first rounder and picks to improve other weaknesses. Who knows maybe the Eagles would take a first next year which leaves Seattle two picks this year to improve. I'm not a Seattle guy so I don't know but are they really that bad that Mcnabb and two first rounds can't help them.

I think that Philly will give them a better offer on Mcnabb rather than Kolb. They would be perfectly content with Kolb and Vick as their two QBs for the year

While I like McNabb and hope he sticks around another year, I would be furious if the Eagles let Kolb walk after developing him for 3 years. It's a shame there is no market for Vick as I truly hoped we'd be able to get something, anything, for him. I can deal with McNabb possibly leaving for Seattle as long as the Eagles get some decent value.

Are suggesting that Seattle deal one of their high first round picks for McNabb ?That would be borderline lunacy, imo.

Agreed. But a swap of firsts and a sweetener might not be so crazy. Then you sign Marshall for the 14th, and voila, you have a ready to go offense. The NFC West is ripe for the picking and a new coach knows he really only has two years to get the job done. You have to strike fast; there are no three year building plans anymore. I remember when we used to talk about five years for a new HC! Now it is 18 months.

The Hawks had to pay out a tidy some to let Mora walk away; I think Carroll has a bit more than a two year window. No matter how much money Paul Allen has, he will nto want to throw away millions again to let Carroll go after two years.

I'm "after" ownership of the Eagles. I've made a binding offer to Jeffrey Lurie and am "aggressively pursuing" the franchise. Now, whether he accepts my offer of $1,001 and a case of Yeungling lager remains to be seen. But until I hear from him, it's OFFICIAL that I am "actively engaged" in talks.

The asking price was an excessive amount.Jason Woods and the McNabb fans need to come to grips that Kolb is going to be the QB in Philly next year- or -they are going to get a boatload of picks. Either way it will be better than what they have now. McNabb is done.

I think they are. They have nothing at WR, Forsett is a good back but he can't carry the full load. They have no pass rush, no corners and are in desperate need of a LT. As much talent as AZ have lost this year they are still streets ahead of SEA. Same with SF. Seattle should count themselves lucky that they're in a division with the Rams.

He is feeling good about things. I dont want to violate his trust, but I will say that the picks that are being reported to be the asking price are actually on the bottom side of what the truth is. I will throw this out there to McNabb lovers who continue to think that Reid wants Donovan around next year: Why would a team ask an EXORBITANT AMOUNT of draft picks for their "3rd string  "QB, if they wanted to move forward with McNabb? The answer is they dont. If someone will grossly overpay for Kevin- then yeah, they will use DM for another year. IMO Reid loves KK and he is saving face by showing man love for DMac publicly AND to the insecure Donovan (again, my opinion). The team is ready to move on with Kevin and are looking forward to 1) Catching passes in stride instead of chasing down ducks 2) Having a QB who understands defense blitz packages 3) Someone who doesnt quit down the stretch and 4) Doesnt need constant reminding that he is SNL's Stuart Smalley Version 2. ("Im good enough; Im smart enough; and dog gone it- PEOPLE LIKE ME!") Thats why I say that the Eagles are going to win in this QB quandry. They either get a younger, eager QB to grow a future with; or they get a couple of 1st and a 3rd or 4th rounder (definite overpay) to use in other areas and hope that DMac can get them by one more year. As an Eagle hater I hope they trade KK to an AFC team  But that is the my selfish Cowboy pride....

i am not so sure the hawks cannot "win now" with a move or two

IT seems as if the cards are falling apart, the rams suck. So they need to challenge the niners for the division. That does not seem out of reach to me.

IT seems as if the cards are falling apart
Rolle was overrated.Boldin was injured half of the time and we are deep at WR...and we got two draft picks for him.The Dansby and Warner losses obviously hurt, but to say the team is "Falling apart" is jumping the gun a bit.

You also think Leinart is the second coming of the golden bear. Most of us expect the cards to take a pretty large step back.

They lost Warner, Boldin, Dansby, and Rolle. They are now quite a bit worse than the team that went 10-6 team last year. That doesn't exactly leave a lot of room to go down and still be a playoff team, and they've gone pretty far down in terms of personnel.

LOL

I say stuff like this all the time but nobody seems to see what is really obvious to me(mcnabb is an insecure manchild). Thanks for the info.

righti am not saying they are going to be 2-14but it is hard to call them the favorites in the division. IT seems like this division is one where the hawks may think they can make a big jump and challenge

Despite LHucks' Leinart crush, I think he's right here. People are overreacting. They still have plenty of talent, and I wouldn't be surprised if Arizona winds up with Larry Foote serviceably manning linebacker and tutoring draftee Sean Weatherspoon. That being said, I think Seattle is tempted to enter "win now" mode because they feel that the division is ripe for the taking, and if they engage in a protracted rebuilding then they'll be ceding multiple years to the teams that have already started the process. Still, I think that going for McNabb would be a step in the wrong direction, and heck, I'm not particularly sold on Kolb outside of Reid's offense.

You can dress it up anyway you want but the Cards have come back to the pack and are no longer clear cut favs to win the West.

Regarding the Cards, there's no way they are as good as last year. But it's not really about Rolle or Boldin or Dansby, it's that they're losing a Hall of Fame QB for a guy not likely to play at a replacement level. Unless of course Leinart shocks the world

Like I mentioned, they were only 10-6 last year, and they've lost some very good players since then. So how many games are Warner, Boldin, Dansby, and Rolle worth? Even if it's only 3 games, that puts them down at 7-9.Personally, I'd think the move from Warner to Leinart is proabably worth about 3 games alone.

As I suspected, no interest in McNabb. Who wants a guy that old if you are on the verge of going deep into the plaoffs. he would be a waste of time.

CSNPhilly.com reports the Seattle Seahawks have expressed interest in one, not two, Eagles quarterbacks. A source in Seattle has informed Comcast SportsNet that the Seahawks have contacted the Eagles about QB Kevin Kolb, contradicting a report that the team has asked about QB Donovan McNabb as well. When asked if the Eagles had anything to add to the report, the team responded "No."

they already have one, his name is Alex Smith.and they're 'pot-committed' as far as Smith is concerned, they've given him way too much money

to leave him sitting on the bench..
