Seahawks lose WR Logan Payne for the year (1 Viewer)

Seahawks will place WR Logan Payne on injured reserve with a torn knee ligament, ending his season.

Coach Mike Holmgren didn't confirm it, but Payne may have torn his ACL on Seattle's first snap Sunday. The Seahawks will add some more street free agent WRs for depth this week. With Seneca Wallace, Deion Branch, and Bobby Engram all likely out for Week 3, Courtney Taylor will keep his starting job.

Deion Branch may actually have ended up being the smart play in Seattle this season...

until of course he gets re-injured.

Bet Holmgren never thought he'd be considering running the wishbone in his final year, but for them it may be a viable option.

Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren revealed that Seneca Wallace "heard a pop" when he injured his calf in pre-game warmups Sunday.

"Those injuries tend to linger," Holmgren said. Wallace seems unlikely to be placed on injured reserve, but a torn calf could sideline him several weeks.

on a more serious note, How can this team not trade for somebody?

There are plenty of WRs hardly being used in the NFL right now who could start in Seattle.

They probably could've gotten Roy Hall for Fossett

Joe Horn? Chad Jackson?

Terry Glenn and Eric Moulds may be available.

This is about as bad as an injury epidemic for one team at one position that I can remember. And were only in week two.

How did Billy McMullen look yesterday? Seriously.
He didn't look too bad considering that Hass aid he'd gotten all of two reps with him over the week. He wasn't supposed to see the field much and became the primary read on many plays. He had a costly fumble and kind of short armed a pass that flipped up in the air and got pick 6ed. Massive room for improvement but for a guy that was unemplyed at this time last week, not horrible...

You'd be a better suggestion than half the WRs named here. gagThis really is ridiculous. When does Engram come back again?
One more week until their bye is what they're praying to stomach, but they better win a game.Engram and Branch both could be back in Week 5 after STL and a bye. They need the Rams to heal and a week off as well. Based on seeing two Rams games so far, I think 2 byes are ahead for them.

Holmgren just stated Payne's out for the year. Seneca out 3-4 week approx.

Seems like a replay of last week's press conference.

Chad Jackson is who I thought of. Granted, he got cut by the Pats because he couldn't master the playbook and ran suspect routes, so highly doubt he could successfully pick of the nuances of the WCO on the fly. But with his physical talent, they could at least stretch the field a few plays a game. Right now, they have ZERO athletes at wide out.

Courtney Taylor, youve exposed your bustness.
On a team with 6 of 7 "starting" WRs he still probably played himself out of a job on Sunday. A bad drop, a few bad routes. Supposedly he looked good all preseason but he's been nothing but suck in two games. Whatever happened to Kent? He made the cut then got dropped to make room for Babs and Bernard, then Bumpus (who Kent beat out originally) got called up. Is he on the PS? Is he a FA? Why oh why is he not on the roster if he was good enough to "make" the team?! I am absolutely confounded by the FO on the WR situation...For all the Hass owners, listen up. When ENgram is back it'll be a different QB. THat's his security blanket and Hass plays a LOT differently when Bobby's on the field. It's actually kind of disturbing how different he plays. Right now he has no faith in anyone out there so he's panicing. He's developing a nice chemistry with Carlson, but of course by now the rookie has the longest tenure with him so that's kind of natural. ETA: Kent is on the practice squad and is a possibility to be signed again. Holmgren also said in his presser that they are exploring trade possibilites as well. Doesn't sound like he was too thrilled with the FAs they just went through last week. Bring on Roy Williams!

This is pretty bad. Yesterday Seneca Wallace would have been the #1 WR most likely, but what do you know.. he gets hurt! :shakeshead:

A summary of the Seattle WR happenings of the past month:

August - Branch still unable to practice with team

8/3 - Logan Payne cracks rib in practice

8/8 - Engram cracks bone in shoulder; expected to miss 6-8 weeks

8/12 - Courtney Taylor named starter, along with Burleson

8/29 - Obomanu breaks clavicle in preseason game and is placed on IR

8/30 - final roster cuts include Michael Bumpus, Trent Shelton, Joel Filani and Bryan Gilmore. Bumpus signs to practice squad.

8/31 - Kent and Payne make team

9/7 - Nate Burleson tears knee ligament in Week 1 and is placed on IR

9/9 - Mark Bradford, Devale Ellis, Michael Gasperson, and Mike Hass brought in for auditions

9/9 - Billy McMullen and Samie Parker brought in; both sign contracts

9/9 - Kent cut

9/10 - Kent re-signed to practice squad

9/10 - Wallace starts practicing at WR

9/13 - Parker cut

9/13 - Michael Bumpus signed from practice squad

9/14 - Wallace tears calf muscle in pregame warmup; out for 2-4 weeks

9/14 - Payne tears MCL on first play of game and is placed on IR

Did I miss anything? Right now the depth chart looks like:

1. Taylor

2. McMullen

3. Bumpus

-----

4. Kent (PS)

5. Engram (inactive)

6. Branch (inactive)

7. Wallace (injured)

8. Burleson (IR)
