Sean Taylor (1 Viewer)

Can anyone explain Sean Taylor's rankings? FBG have him ranked pretty high in the overall "rest of the year" DB rankings but he's ranked very low in the weekly rankings. This week he's up against the passing GB offense but he's still way way way down the list for DBs this week. Shouldn't the GB offense give him a lot of opportunity for tackles and ints?

Thoughts?

Taylor's a lot like an IDP version of Santana Moss. Both are very good at their respective positions in reality and are very explosive players, but that translates in fantasy football to inconsistency and a high degree of variability week to week.Taylor's role this year is to play the centerfield position. He's doing less run support - that's more the role of Landry. Taylor's tackles figure to vary a lot from game to game. His big games will tend to be huge IDP games where he gets an INT and occasionally a return for TD (he's very good with the ball in his hands) but that obviously won't happen every week.

Taylor's tough to start in some cases. You know he'll be fine at the end of the year in the rankings, but you never know which week he'll score in. I think FBG has it right - for the rest of the season, he'll be fine, but each week, you can't depend on starting him. Some lesser SSs or CBs will have better matchups each week.

Taylor's a good play either as a flex IDP player or as a DB/S who is paired with guys who are good for steady tackles numbers week to week. He's your proverbial home run hitter, who should be paired with guys who hit singles and doubles, so to speak.

This week was just the kind of thing I was talking about. What's scary is that he dropped no fewer than three other INT's.

His coverage skills are great and he is a must start against teams that pass a lot, and even some who don't. I also like to have a couple of all or nothing types in my lineup...all or nothing meaning players who don't get their points from high tackle numbers.
