Sean Taylor's funeral service (1 Viewer)

I`m sorry...i saw what said funeral sevice live and a guy talking at a podium...although i dont see it on now...never mind...please delete this thread.

 
It's been on ESPN News live the whole time. Some great stuff, esp the words from the Mayor of Florida City, where Sean Taylor's dad is the police commissioner. The Mayor told the media they need to think before they write ... pointing out how they all insinuated that the death of Sean Taylor was tied to his troubled past. He got a standing ovation for that. It's true, it tarnished his death (albeit momentarily). Just let the man rest in peace.

FYI -- all the Redskins were there. A class act.

 
Anyone catch Drew Rosenhaus giving his eulogy? I've never seen someone "cry" without any tears. Once he realized that making himself cry wasn't in his arsenal, he magically composed himself again in two seconds flat. Yell at me all you want for this statement, but at least watch the video before you do.

Ya think? It was disgusting, frankly. That was the very definition of crocodile tears. Reminded me of when Norm had to fire that guy on Cheers, and he couldn't pass off his fake crying as being legit.

Unfortunately, I do not. I have seen it twice in the past hour on ESPN, however.He consciously attempted to start crying when he mentioned how Sean tried to protect his girlfriend, and I think he must have realized how ridiculous it looked. So blatant. He looked up the next moment with a completely dry face. No wonder agents have such a bad name.

 
Can't find a link... saw it on ESPN. Hopefully someone will find it on youtube. Haha... surely gives agents a bad name. Dreamed from time to time that would be a fun job... have to say I questioned that watching him.

 
I'm sorry for turning a thread about Taylor's funeral into a Drew Rosenhaus rant... but that rubbed me the wrong way.

What I will probably remember most from this day is the image of Jackie Taylor bounding around while friends, loved ones and dignitaries honored her father. She was seated right below where we were, hopping around with the ballerina grace of an 18-month old on the balls of her feet. No matter who spoke at the funeral today, there were two constants within their remarks - Sean's smile, and his boundless energy, always on the go, never wanting to stop playing football. The words of Florida City Mayor Otis Wallace will, I hope, stay with me as long as pursue this career, when he urged that the "media gets a small lesson in grace and humility," from this event, resisting the need to jump to conclusions. He also asked that the next time a celebrity or public figure is in this position, that we with the pens and microphones - "Take a really deep breath and think of Sean Taylor and do it a little differently." The fact that the room erupted with a standing ovation as he said these words was lost on no one.

When it come to peace, Sean was at peace in his life. It showed in everything he did. He was always smiling in the locker room.He said, 'Clinton, you always smile; I wonder how you can do that.' and I said, 'I'm thinking the same thing about you.'

You'd be tired, ready to get in the showr and he'd come up and say, 'Man, you see The Flintstones the other night?' [The folks in the arena dissolve into laughter.]

You think he was being genuine when he got "choked up" there for a second? I'm dubious.Keep in mind, this is a guy who saved a kid from drowning (good for him, BTW).... then called the press to let them know about it.

He's a scumbag salesman snake. Thats why hes hired in the first place. I think it's hard for people like him to even become emotional, much less be emotional. He was probably trying his best to respect Taylor by "pretending" to be emotional.

And again, it isn't painfully obvious/nearly as bad as described in this thread.

 
Sean Taylor's girlfriend, Jackie, was unable to speak at Sean's funeral, it was just too hard for her, so she ask her sister to speak for her. Her sister gave a very moving eulogy that if anyone still had any doubts about Sean as a person, you had doubts no more. Very touching.

You're critisizing someone giving a eulogy? Seriously????I think its one of those things that there is no "right way" to do it and we should just sit back and respect how he goes about it. And yes I've seen the clips. It seemed to me like he started to cry, pulled himself together, then reallly quickly went through the rest of his speech(talked very very fast) as he knew that he couldn't hold out from crying for much longer so he wanted to get through it all.And even if he was faking, who are you to critisize that??? Maybe he really was sad about Taylor but wasn't crying, and for whatever reason he wanted to make himself cry to demonstrate how truly sad he was. I'm not saying its the smartest way to go about it, but its not horrible. You're assuming that he was fake crying to make himself look good, and thats an awful big assumption imo.
