Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren hopes WRs Deion Branch and Bobby Engram can play half the number of offensive play calls Sunday against the Giants.Branch will start at flanker with Engram in the slot. Both receivers are making their season debuts, so their snaps will be cut back a bit from a normal starter's load. It may be worth giving them both one more week on your bench if you have stronger options.Source: Tacoma News TribuneRelated: Bobby Engram

Engram will start in the slot. Engram and Branch supposed to be limited in plays but my gut say they will stay out there. Engram IS the favorite of Hass and the safety valve.

Is he really? And what exactly does that mean? I'm officially now convinced that people are going overboard trying to convince themselves that Engram is the #1 WR in this offense.stbugs and I had an excellect discussion over this notion in this thread. I know its not the popular opinion, but Branch will likely (in my opinion) be the #1 WR in this offense if he's fully healthy. It's all about the flanker.

Yea, the coach even said Engram won't see the field unless they start in a 3 receiver set. Branch is the guy, Engram has only been this safety valve because Branch couldn't stay healthy.

Branch 4 targets. 2 catches. 2 red zone targets.Engram 1 target. 1 catch.So far...
Looks like Branch with 5 targets, 3 catches, and 31 yards right now. Engram with 6 targets, 5 catches and 38 yards. Didn't count RZ targets, but I'm assuming Branch leads there.

Yes. Engram has more total targets now. Just saw another early in the third quarter.

Mike Holmgren said Deion Branch was the only serious injury. He did not specify how long he would be out but said it was a heel injury. Now, this is speculation that we will never know, but you do have to wonder if this injury has anything to do with coming back too early. I know it is not the same leg or the same injury, but in the same way that Marcus Tubbs was injured last year, I believe your body compensates in other parts when one part of you is weak. Perhaps this is completely separate and not related, but it does raise the question.
Looks like Engram is now a lock to be the go to guy. Sure put a quick end that discussion.
