Seattle's Receivers (1 Viewer)

I was surprised with their receivers; they seemed scared of getting hit resulting in several dropped passes. Obviously Stevens was horrible, even counting his TD catch.

But how about Jackson at the end of the first half on that deep throw down the right sideline? He was out (left foot in bounds and right foot hit the pylon), but his effort seemed half-hearted. I've seen plenty of ordinary NFL receivers in much more difficult situations than he was in being able to somehow get the other foot in. But Jackson didn't even make an effort.

I actually thought Hasselbeck (that INT nonwithstanding) was the best offensive player on the field, but aside from Jurevicus and Engram, really wasn't given much help by his receivers.

Totally agree. And Jackson hardly tried again a few plays later.

Hasselbeck was easily the best Seahawk on the field and it's so frustrating that his teammates completely let him down. Jurevicius and Engram come up big here and there, but it certainly wasn't enough.

All in all a maddening game if you were rooting for the 'Hawks.

I agree here. Some poor drops. Didn't the same thing happen when the Seahawks played GB in the playoffs?

I thought the WRs were fine. Stevens on the other hand needs to shut his mouth and catch the ball

You guys can't be serious about Jackson.

Agreed.Unless anyone was actually at the game, we all had the same TV angle. I don't think we saw enough to say he started to put forth a half-hearted effort.

Maybe, after catching 5 quick passes, the secondary starting focusing a lot more on him, opening up the field for Engram and Joe J.

That said, it is a bit puzzling why he didn't have at least one more catch the rest of the way.

I just saw the replay several times and I totally disagree. Jackson wasn't even going at full speed when he caught the ball so it's not as if his momentum completely took him out of bounds. He definitely could have gotten his right foot in.I will grant that he was looking back towards the ball for the most part so maybe he thought he was easily in bounds or way out of bounds, so the thought never came to him.

But whatever it is, he didn't make an effort he should have made.

I thought DJax had a great 1st half and killed the Steelers with several key 1st downs and had some decent RAC. I suspect that the Steelers changed their defense of him in the 2nd half and were going to make Joe J. beat them instead of the better wr, DJax.

Stevens definitely helped by dropping several balls but he got lit up several times with some huge hits.

Usually TE's do get lit up as they roam the middle of the field.Stevens flat out sucked.

I don't personally think that Steven said anything pre-game that was "just shut-up" worthy. Everyone on the Seahawks roster probably was motivated the same way, "Everyone's talking about the Steelers winning the Super Bowl for hometown hero Bettis, so let's go out there and ruin their party." Granted he probably wasn't the right "mouthpiece" for this kind of sentiment, but I think he was just saying what everyone was thinking in the Seahawks locker-room.But he certainly started a firestorm with Porter. I can't help but believe that Porter got into his head before the game even got started. I don't think Stevens anticipated such a backlash.

Anybody who follows the Seahawks know how many drops Stevens had this season? Was this a typical game for him?

Stevens had what...3 drops?! That is unacceptable. That's why they starting using that Hannan guy more. It gets my goat that everytime Stevens dropped a pass he'd get up smiling. You're gonna get hit either way...might as well catch the damn thing and be a hero. These guys are so weak nowadays. As for D-Jax...I think he was ok. The BS call in the endzone that took away his TD showed that he was putting forth effort. I'd have a tough time putting Stevens back in the starting lineup if he's gonna choke like that in crunch time. :X

I thought Engram made a few nice plays, and he seemed to be the only WR that stepped up for Hasselbeck aside from Jackson catching a few easy out patterns with huge cushions on the first drive.

Seattle fans should blame Jackson for the PI call in the endzone. When a WR extends his arm against the DB to get separation right in front of the referee, it's going to get called no matter how much it impacted the play. All he had to do was turn around, take 2 steps, and catch the ball and Hope wouldn't have been able to get there.

And Stevens had 3 drops, but one HUGE one that was on 2nd and long I think. It was right down the middle and would've been a 1st down at the 15 yard line.

In the end, Hasselbeck threw the ball 49 times but averaged fewer than 6 yards per attempt, and he got very little help from the WRs.
