Seneca Wallace (1 Viewer)

Curious what the Sharks think of him. The basic impression I have gotten is that he is horrible and that SEA offense should be downgraded. But I looked at his career stats and they are not that bad at all. Career completion % of 58% and a TD/INT ratio of 23/13. Throw in his running ability and is he a guy to pick up in case Hasselbeck is out a while? Is he a good pickup in dynasty? The receivers there are not bad with TJ, Burleson and now Branch is back, plus Carlson at TE.

I'm a homer, but I have a feeling he'll have a career day on Sunday.

Now that Holmgren isn't reigning him in, he'll be more at liberty to make plays with his feet, which will open up the passing game. When Sen was in last year, he had the practice squad for WRs and 2nd and 3rd string o-linemen.

FWIW, I have him starting over Farve in one of my leagues.

Positives:

1. Unreal athleticism

2. Very strong arm. Better deep ball than Hasselbeck

3. Been in NFL long enough to be considered a veteran with plenty of experience

4. New offensive coordinator that adapts to his personnel (huge change from Holmgren)

Negatives:

1. Too short. Batted down passes are an issue

2. Decision making

3. Passing accuracy

I won't be surprised to see the game this weekend go either way. Being at home is a giant advantage for Seattle. They are a much different team home vs away. Healthy passing targets are also a big boost.

Yeah, I'm a homer and have a tough time analyzing my team sometimes. I try to be objective. The guy that I think breaks down the Seahawks better than anyone else is John Morgan from www.fieldgulls.com. You can read some of his comments on his site, but this link in particular will give you something to think about:

4. What should Bears fans fear most about the Seahawks?

The passing game. Deion Branch is set to return this week, and that makes Seattle a very deep passing offense even without a superstar receiver. Seattle was able to create something similar in 2007, when it had Branch, Bobby Engram, Nate Burleson and D.J. Hackett. Hackett wasn't a star by any stretch, but Seattle created favorable matchups by spreading the field and targeting the weakest defensive back. Hackett caught nine receptions for 136 yards and schooled Pierson Prioleau. The Seahawks are much more talented and deep this season, replacing Marcus Pollard with young world beater John Carlson, Engram with T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Hackett with burner Deon Butler. Housh regularly plays out of the slot and that creates mismatches. When teams adjust by putting their top corner in as a nickelback or by double covering Houshmandzadeh, offensive coordinator Greg Knapp doesn't hesitate to challenge deep on the outside. Chicago is sketchy in the secondary and their safeties are especially inexperienced, so if I were a Bears fan, I would fear the Seahawks ability to spread the field and create mismatches with their wide receivers.

Any chance Knapp runs any of that "full-house" stuff he ran while he had Vick in Atlanta? I seem to recall him using that occasionally to almost run the damn option with Dunn/Duckett/another RB all out there at the same time w/Vick.

Not saying I think Wallace is the athlete that Vick was, but he's a heck of a lot closer to him than Hass is and they have multiple options at RB w/Jones, James and Forsett.

Probably isn't going to happen. Just something that popped into my head when I remembered Knapp was the OC in Atlanta.

Wallace is nowhere close to "horrible." He's able to manage a game without making too many mistakes, and has great athleticism. My impression is when he's forced to come off the sidelines mid-game he tends to make mistakes and throw ints, but when he starts and is prepared, he's a solid QB.

Wouldn't want to build a team around him, but he's at least one of the better backups around.

Is Wallace the guy when Hasselback eventually retires following a 1367th back injury? Or, will they try to draft someone? Might be worth a stash in deep dynatsy leagues given Hasselback's injury issues recently....

Wallace will be fine. His TD/INT ratio was low last year so I don't know where the hate is comming from. It will be exciting to watch tomorrow because it will be his first game with all of the starting WR's...Housh, Burleson, and Branch.

As far as drafting a QB Mike Teel (Rutgers)was drafted to groom for the future job.

Edit: 11 Td's 3 Int's last season.

Seriously? Have we arrived at the point where the number of times a player is injured is equal to the number of time someone talks about it? He has one back injury. Just one, and it happened last year. Once. Nothing more than that. This season he has a rib injury. A couple years ago he had a knee injury.
