DD.com Senior Bowl Weigh-In Notes:

Players who may have helped their stock:

South:

LSU WR Dwayne Bowe (6022, 222) appeared very cut/built and measured tall.

Texas DB Michael Griffin (5114, 195) looked built. Loss of 1 listed inch maybe a plus.

Miss St. DL Antonio Johnson (6027, 302) was big and stocky, one to watch this week.

Arkansas OT Tony Ugoh (6054, 301) looked strong and thick in the lower body.

Miss LB Patrick Willis (6010, 240) looked jacked up and menacing, despite 1 inch short.

Texas DB Aaron Ross (6004 191) appeared cut and solid.

North:

Notre Dame DE Victor Abiamiri (6044, 271) looked extremely built, cut and athletic.

Michigan CB Leon Hall (5110, 194) impressed scouts with his muscular, cut “V” frame.

Fresno State CB Marcus MacCauley (6005, 200) looked tight, cut and built for speed.

Penn St. LB Paul Posluszny (6012, 237) looked natural but was in great shape.

Nebraska LB Stewart Bradley (6038, 256) had natural build with potential for growth.

Louisville RB Kolby Smith (5112, 214) was very cut but with thick hips and legs.

Hawaii OL Samson Satele (6022, 294) appeared naturally athletic for a man his size.

Michigan St. QB Drew Stanton (6027, 226) measured tall enough and looked tight.

Boston Coll. OT James Marten (6073, 303) measured 2 inches taller than listed.

Rutgers RB Brian Leonard (6010, 224) slimmed down to better project as a RB.

(DD.com Leonard interview soon to come!)

Players who may have hurt their stock:

South:

Texas OL Justin Blaylock (6033, 331) measured short for OT and was doughy.

Auburn OL Tim Duckworth (6033, 304) measured 2 inches shorter than listed height.

Florida St. LB Buster Davis (5093, 244) just looked small compared to the others.

Florida QB Chris Leak (5117, 203) measured slightly smaller than listed.

Tennessee OL Arron Sears (6031, 317) measured 1 inch shorter than listed.

USC OC Ryan Kalil (6027, 291) wasn’t bad but didn’t impress physically.

North:

Ohio State DL David Patterson (6017, 274) measured small and appeared sloppy.

Louisville DT Amobi Okoye (6021, 284) was real cut for a big man, but weighed 30 pounds light.

Pittsburgh QB Tyler Palko (6007, 215) measured 2 inches shorter than listed height.

Ohio State QB Troy Smith (6000, 222) measured 1 inch shorter than listed height.

Fresno St WR Paul Williams (6010, 200) measured 1 inch short and 10 pounds light.

West Virginia OC Dan Mozes (6023, 300) measured 1 inch short but 10 pounds heavy.

Just from what I could gather from the NFLN, on the North squad, I was impressed by several O linemen. Beekman, Ramirez and Levi Brown looked very good. Brown simply OWNED Woodley in one on ones. Ramirez, coming from TX Tech may not be used to coming out of a stance, but he is a fast learner. Okoye beat him with a spin move, then tried it again. Ramirez pancaked him.

Troy Smith struggled, fumbling two snaps. Stanton looked like the best QB on the North squad.

Carriker has a much faster speed rush than I thought. He's going to go in the mid-first round for sure. He's a beast. Mayock was talking him up a lot too. Spears also looked good, while Woodley was ... well, almost awful in one on ones, but looked a bit better in the 7 on 7's.

It was raining, which didn't help the footing. Leonard didn't look very good, going down on first contact, and Hunt dropped an easy pass in the flat that he was wide open for. Perhaps because of the rain, the offensive linemen looked much better than the D linemen did, with the exception of Carriker and Spencer. Posluszny had a good day and looked sharp, faster than what his timed speed might be.... he has football speed.

Bloom and Lammey better not be out there doing shooters and yuckin it up.... they have fans to answer to here.

troy smith was generally thought to be under 6', so that seems a positive...

last year it seemed like even in controlled setting of senior bowl & combine measurements, there was discrepancy on height of deangelo williams?

willis at 240 seems plenty big for MLB (though sometimes prospects get pumped up for weigh ins than lose it later... just like some prospects lose weight to run faster 40 than promptly gain it back)...

Getting ready to record. Cecil watched the North, I watched the South.

From DraftDaddy.comNotre Dame DE Victor Abiamiri (6044, 271) looked extremely built, cut and athletic.Louisville DT Amobi Okoye (6021, 284) was real cut for a big man, but weighed 30 pounds light.
These two jump out at me, especially Okoye...whoa...that's light for a DT.Abiamiri came out exactly as listed, rare. That's legit DE size with the athleticism for a 3-4 OLB. Jamaal Anderson, Jarvis Moss, and Charles Johnson declaring grabbed the attention from some of the seniors. Quentin Moses and Abiamiri can gain some momentum back now.Interesting Gaines Adams is skipping it. If he isn't a top ten or so pick now, his agent isn't going to be a popular guy.

I hear that Kenny Irons and Kolby Smith looked good today. Smith has the perfect RB build on paper. Irons is undersized at 198 pounds, but I'm getting this hunch that the Denver Broncos might find him a good fit for their system. That would complicate the rookie draft picture.

Lorenzo Booker weighed in at only 188 pounds. Yikes. Third down back here he comes.

On the other end of the scale, Tony Hunt weighed 239 pounds. No wonder he looks so sluggish to me. He's huge. I still say ignore the hype on this kid. He's backup material.

Perfect size for a cover-2 DT, assuming he has the athleticism, which shouldnt be a problem for him.

I doubt there are more than a couple starting DTs in the league under 290 and guess at least 75% are a minimum of 10 listed lbs. over that (so 295+). 285 and athletic is so 1990's. Three bills and still physical freak is how we roll in the middle these days. :ptts:

In my miscelleneous anti-Okaye posting I have mentioned he lost a ton of weight. He's been listed at 317 in his bio at Louisville, but he lost weight to gain speed. Supposedly he went down to 295, but I guess he kept losing. He does not have the athleticism of a DE. I know, he's 19. He get pushed around, but has a nice pass rush. Which is opposite of his billing all over the internet-- run stuffer. :tinfoilhat:
