SFlex draft setup (1 Viewer)

So I have been in a league since the 90s, and we are voting today and starting the picks to pick draft order(draft next Saturday), so I get picked first, i then get to pick my draft slot. Its 14 team SLFEX with IDP as well.

We never did this before, and I am struggling to figure out which slot to pick, if I get the chance, am thinking 5 thru 10 would be good. Can still get a top QB and be in the middle of good RBs and WRs coming back up round 2. But also wouldnt be upset getting Stroud or Love(or both) and a top tier RB/WR if I was near the 12-14 picks.
If you dont have 2 good QBs, you cant win in this league. Its been SFLEX for 3 years and every winner has had 2 strong QBs. Dak/Purdy and Stroud/Hurts were the final 2 last year.

I dont think I want 1-5. But again, not sure. Its looking like the vote will pass and we adopt this change.
I could also get picked 14th and not have any choice at all.

What position would you want if picked early, and why?

If you think CMC is a cheat code you want 1. It really is that simple.

If you are trying to build a team and not worry about CMC you need to figure out how many guys there are that you “MUST get at least 1 of.” Then you know. If there are 3 pick 3 if there are 5, pick 5 etc…. This will guarantee you one of “your” guys and get you as close as possible to another high end player.

Being SuperFlex (basically 2QB) he's looking to lock up a QB in the first round and I agree getting a good QB in the first round is the way to go especially in a 14 teamer. Those QBs get eaten up quickly.

As for draft spot I have only mocked 12 teams so not fully up to speed on 14 but I assume the top 15-20 QBs go quickly. I would think being top 5-6 (depending on your QB rankings) is fairly safe knowing you will start your draft with a top QB. There are some big values in the mid range as some could hit and knock it out of the park (Burrow, Kyler, Dak etc.) and some QBs that should provide consistent safe floors with upside Love, Purdy, and even Goff and Tlaw later. I think getting Tlaw, Tua and Goff as a 2nd qb would be huge. Not sure where in your draft you would need to be to get one of those. Is it posible to get a top 5-6 QB and come back with a fantastic #2? Not sure how your draft will go once the top QBs are off the board. Will WR and RBs go or is it all QBs?

Likely depends on your draft - I'd suggest going back to see what everyone usually does. I'd probably lean to a spot where I can lock up a good solid QB2. Even Caleb as a #2 could work wonders for your team.

I hate drafting in the middle so I would be top 3 or bottom 3. I likely go top 3 at this time.

First guy up took spot 5. I am 4th to pick my spot. I still have no plan.

Ended up taking 7th spot. No idea why, 1, 2, 3 were there but I kinda like middle of the pack. Can still get Burrow, Richardson, Murray, Stroud or Love. Dont want Dak. Figure the top 4 QBs go 1-4. My issue will be taking a top 1-2 WR or sticking with QB. I assume it will be QB, esp if its Stroud or Love there.
