Shamarko and Wilcox (1 Viewer)

No mention of either of either Shamarko Thomas or JJ Wilcox so far this week and I'm wondering whether it's time to move on them preemptively.

I can't recall who tweeted it, but there were suggestions floating around this week that coming out of the bye week, Thomas might at least start cutting into Ryan Clark's snaps, with potentially the opportunity to take over the starting role in coming weeks. In Dallas, Wilcox played every snap last week and Allen was released. I thought Wilcox would play at free safety but I've seen him listed in a couple of spots as the Cowboys starting strong safety now.

Is there anything to see here as early as this week? I was pretty high on both these guys coming into the season if they got an opportunity.

Shamarko was playing nickel/dime situations for the 1st 3 weeks. After DB Cortez Allen came back from injury his snap count went way down in London. Outside of injury, I wouldn't expect anything from him until 2014.

That's fine, but I'm not talking about the last 4 weeks. There have been indications that his snap counts might start increasing now.

Supposedly he's going to start splitting base looks with Clark as soon as this weekend.

In fact, depending on how that goes, I won't be surprised if their signing of Will Allen isn't indicative that they intend to outright release Clark soon. Particularly if they drop to 0-5.

Clark has been playing as if he's preparing for his career in broadcasting all season

Thomas has been described as Bob Sanders without the injury concerns. With Pittsburgh looking horrible, they've gotta see what the kid can do. Better pick him up now.
