So i took my kid to Elevation Burger and have seen this numerous times. The line is always long and there's limited seating. One table left and the family that just comes in has their 2 kids sit at the table to hold it while they go through the line. The parents were 18th in line and as people got their food in front of them, they had to stand there and wait for a table while these two kids sat there waiting for their parents. Somebody probably could have sat down and finished before they made it through the line. I was just finishing myself but as i said ive seen this almost every time i go there. Shark move insuring yourself a table or jerk move?

I hate when people do this. Those who got there first get first shot at seating. I especially hate it when people do it with coats.

100% jerk move.

A shark move easily can be a jerk move, as in this case.

It's all a matter of whether someone is ok with being a jerk to get ahead of other people in some fashion.

If someone does it with coats, leaving a coat while they go stand in line, I have a feeling their coat might end up outside somewhere if it were me. Maybe on the back of a bus.

Neither. You people are a bunch of dead-eyed cows if you're 18th in line at a fast food joint. Go eat somewhere else.

Aren't jerks Elevation Burger's target customer?
Apparently cause i see this scenario every other time im in there. I once saw two couples come in with 2 kids that belonged to one of the couples. The kids each took a table to save them for both couples. It was busy that day too, maybe 3-4 tables left with 10-15 people in line.

Shark move. Wtf is elevation burger?
2nd.

Jerk move. The shark move would be to take your food, go sit down beside their kids and start eating.
This is genius, what's the worst case scenario? It's doubtful the kids are going to say anything, in fact, they'll probably become alienated and leave the table. If the parents walk over, you be like,

"Oh, so you HAVEN'T purchased your food yet? That's a bummer, I'm going to finish eating the food I purchased for my kids before it gets cold."

I wonder if the poll results reflect those who have kids, and those who don't.

Next time send your wife/gf to hold a table for you.
Don't you think its kinda a tool move to hold a table unused in a busy restaurant when people actually have food and are waiting for a table to open up? I mean it probably took them 10-15 minutes to get through the line, i didn't stick around. So that table sat unused for 10 minutes plus while people were waiting.

Do people stay and chat when they are done eating? Or is everyone wolfing down their food and leaving immediately?

I have no problem sending kids/wife to find a table at a busy restaurant so we don't stand around later when all the tables are full.

and another table always opens up. This is a non issue.

If you know you're probably not going to find a seat, why wouldn't you just get it to go?
You're out and about and you don't want to eat in your car?
When I see a line with 18 people and only 2 open tables, I find another place to eat. I'm quirky that way.
That was my first reaction to the situation, not if I'm holding up a table or not.
But you have to understand, it's a BURGER place. There aren't but probably another 20 or 30 options within a ten minute radius.

If anyone has to wait with food in hand while you're still in line and your kid is sitting there it's an issue.

Yeah, but that's a you issue, not a me issue. Do you feel the same way about people who are eating slowly, or talking after they are done?

If seating is tight, plan accordingly. Leave, send someone else to find a table while you wait in line, or prepare to wait with your food in hand.

Have you ever been to a food court at a busy mall? Someone gets the food, someone finds the table. Same thing in this escalator burger joint.

If you are standing around with no place to sit, next time bring a friend.

never seen it happen. Another table always opens up and I/we cause no damage.
