Shark Pool Board Mock Draft - Version 1 (1 Viewer)

Posting from phone, so forgive any typos. This pick is a no-brained here. However, I don't think he will be around for.this pick. If not, I look for the Bengals to consider a WR with this pick. Reuben randle was my next choice.

As usual, I disagree with the latest round of Dufresne Picks

15. New York Jets - 8ebok24 - David Wilson, RB - Va. Tech

What about Bilal Powell? Are you writing him off already? While NYJ O woes are getting the press, they need help on the front 7, especially the old and unskilled DL. A 3-4 rush backer would be great too.

17. San Diego Chargers - jacobo_moses - Zach Brown, OLB - North Carolina

Brown is a 4-3 WLB. At 220 lbs I dont' see how in the world he fits in with the Chargers 3-4 D. The SD 'backers traditionally are 250+. You took Melvin Ingram in the first, what do you do with Brown? Convert to SS? Nice value pick, terrible fit.

18. Chicago Bears - RBM - Kevin Zeitler, G - Wisconsin

Chicago needs Tackles, not guards. Chicago could also use a real live NFL WR. I agree that Randle was a good fit here. I don't disagree as much here as I do the other two selections

Well hell  I was so used to disagreeing with all your picks I must have missed the authors. My error. It would be fun to run a tangential draft w/ you, though. I know I have had to review my opinions and look from different angles due to many picks. Good stuff

2.23 - The Lions select, Orson Charles, TE, Georgia

Detroit is looking for impact players early. Wanted Fleener because of his size but Charles has maybe more athletic ability to become a bigger threat. Wes Bunting has Charles as his #1 TE and I've read more than one comparison to Aaron Hernandez when researching Charles. The offense is already potent and now can add another guy to create mismatches on the field.

Yes Detroit has needs at OL, OLB, ILB, but there are players who can be taken for depth at those positions later. The LB's all looked very similar to me at this point. As did the OT's.

2.24 the Pittsburgh Steelers select Amini Silatolu - OG - Midwestern St.

Write up to follow...

ETA:

Really was torn between Silatolu and Markell Martin (FS), as Polamalu is getting older and older and the team is in need of ball hawks on defense. I ended up going with Silatolu, because while he is more raw, I think that he has higher upside than any of the offensive lineman available. Small school OG, he manhandled the opposition and according to reports, he is more nimble than his size would dictate. Steelers love OG that can pull and open up holes, and Silatolu looks like he is in the mold of Kemoeatu, one of the best in the game at doing that. I'm hoping that his discipline is better than CK however, as CK couldnt resist doing stupid penalties.

Why would you take a TE with Pettigrew already rostered? Seems to me anyshwere on your OL would be the logical target.

Because in the 1st couple rounds I don't want to get caught up drafting potential needs for Detroit. Their OL wasn't that bad at all this year.Drafting a guy that could line up anywhere can't coexist with Pettigrew? Why not?

Backus tore his biceps believe though, and is a FA, so there might be some need there.

Edit: Damn auto correct

I read that too, and looked hard for a OT there I really liked. Maybe I should have gone for Adams in the 1st round but it felt like reaching there. Look at the OL left right now and let me know if you see a guy who stands out. I couldn't find one. I considered Datko but he has shoulder injury issues just like Backus. I saw that Detroit met with Mitchell Schwartz at the Senior Bowl but right now he doesn't look worthy of a 2nd rounder.I believe Detroit's draft plan is to go after talent first. They could potentially go after holes to fill in FA.

I think if the Broncos take a QB, they want a guy that has a good chance to start NOW and kick Tebow to the curb.

Brandon Weeden has to be really intriguing to Elway & CO.

If Denver picks a QB here it's going to be a PR disaster IMO. Basically they are telling Tebow he's on borrowed time (rightfully so in my book). Denver has major needs all over so I'm guessing they pass on QB here and hope one of Weeden, Foles or Tanehill drops to them in the next round.

They already have a PR disaster. :shrug:Maybe someone like Billy Winn to play opposite Dumervill in the 4-3?

With Scheffler still under contract and Dominic Raiola being 33, I would have went with Michael Brewster. (However, my opinion should not matter since I am not a Detriot fan.)

Get the ketchup and mustard ready...18. Chicago Bears - RBM - Kevin Zeitler, G Wisconsin
As new GM of the Chicago Bears I am showing my commitment to improving both lines. That is where games are won and lost. I had two wrs on my list that I like alot but solidifying the lines is priority one. I would imagine if we went three rounds, both picks in thst round would be wr.

I know they need to replace Raiola soon as well, but from what I've read, Brewster isn't worthy of a 2nd round pick.ETA: I'm a Packer fan, living in MI.

Bears need capable linemen, at any position. Garza is getting old and Chris Williams is coming off an injury, is in the last yr of his contract, and should really be given another shot to play LT. Spencer is the future center I would assume.

I would assume with this that WR in free agency would be a massive priority. Paging Reggie Wayne.....

I agree we need interior linemen not Tackles. We have Webb and Carimi, plus Williams should be kicked back out to Tackle if needed. Guard/Center is our biggest problem on the line.

Oh it definitely is no matter what happens in the draft. They cannot count on getting someone from this draft that is going to be a sure thing....they cant get Blackmon. And like I said they have two third rounders, and right now in this mock, there are probably five or six wrs that are all very similar in potential.

I don't know if it says anything at all. They have nobody else on the roster right? They're going to get a 2nd/3rd QB at some point one way or another. Getting one of them as a early round rookie probably means they're just looking for roster filler in FA. If they don't pick one until the 7th, it likely means they're signing a #2 QB in FA to compete/backup Tebow. I'm not sure which of those scenerios shows more or less committment to Tebow.
