Shark Pool Board Mock Draft - Version 1 (1 Viewer)

2.27 The New Orleans Saints draft Brandon Washington, G, University of Miami.

Too much cash spent on Jahri to keep Nicks. Brees needs to be resigned, as well as Colston and maybe Meachem too.

Fair thee well Carl Nicks.

Packers, Round 2

TT is usually all BPA, all the time. Screw what you need, draft the best damn player. I think this year, unless someone drops crazy like Aaron Rodgers did, it’s really the B Defensive PA this 2012 draft, outside of perhaps a great option on the offensive line

I was hoping that Mnniefield would drop, because he was truly the BPA as well as the BDPA, but Denver smoked that hope.

Other players on my list of suspects includes Jayson Hosley, CB Va Tech, Coryell Jude, CB Texas Tech, and even Josh Chapmen, DT Alabama. I was even tempted by LaMicheal James, RB Oregon, although he may drop to the 3rd.

Leaving all that behind us, Ted is still happy to announce, that the Green Bay Packers, with their second pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, select……………………

Kendall Reyes, DT, UConn

While a DT in college, Reyes has protoypical size for a DE in a 3-4 Defense, and makes a huge upgrade to play along with Picket and Raji. Commentary from the Senior Bowl -

2012 SENIOR BOWL TUESDAY: With Penn State's Devon Still - NFLDraftScout.com's top-rated senior defensive tackle - out of the Senior Bowl due to a sprained toe scouts were curious to see which of the remaining interior defensive linemen would be able to step up their play. Based on Tuesday's North practice, Connecticut's Kendall Reyes and Michigan's Mike Martin are taking full advantage of the opportunity. Physically speaking, the two couldn't be much different. Reyes, who measured in just a shade under 6-4 and 300 pounds lined up at the three-technnique and even was split out as a five-technique defensive end. His burst off the snap and quick hands made him a tough draw for even the most athletic and experienced of the North offensive linemen. Wisconsin's Kevin Zeitler, arguably the nation's top pure guard among seniors, struggled handling Reyes one on one during drills and during the scrimmages throughout practice, as well. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

Combined with the 1st round pick of Courtney Upshaw to fill in the hole at outside linebacker, Reyes will make the pass rush again feared.

Baltimore Ravens and Ravenlunatic are on the clock - tick tock, tick tock

Bears need capable linemen, at any position. Garza is getting old and Chris Williams is coming off an injury, is in the last yr of his contract, and should really be given another shot to play LT. Spencer is the future center I would assume.
I would assume with this that WR in free agency would be a massive priority. Paging Reggie Wayne.....
Oh it definitely is no matter what happens in the draft. They cannot count on getting someone from this draft that is going to be a sure thing....they cant get Blackmon. And like I said they have two third rounders, and right now in this mock, there are probably five or six wrs that are all very similar in potential.
Gotcha. there are a few high potential guys I like as well that have great value in the 3rd. Randle, Givens...my two favorites are Tommy Streeter and Marquis Maze. Or Hester 2.0 in Travis Benjamin. Of all the late round guys I think Tommy Streeter has the best chance to be relevant.

2.23 - The Lions select, Orson Charles, TE, Georgia

Detroit is looking for impact players early. Wanted Fleener because of his size but Charles has maybe more athletic ability to become a bigger threat. Wes Bunting has Charles as his #1 TE and I've read more than one comparison to Aaron Hernandez when researching Charles. The offense is already potent and now can add another guy to create mismatches on the field.

Yes Detroit has needs at OL, OLB, ILB, but there are players who can be taken for depth at those positions later. The LB's all looked very similar to me at this point. As did the OT's.
Why would you take a TE with Pettigrew already rostered? Seems to me anyshwere on your OL would be the logical target.
Because in the 1st couple rounds I don't want to get caught up drafting potential needs for Detroit. Their OL wasn't that bad at all this year.Drafting a guy that could line up anywhere can't coexist with Pettigrew? Why not?
Why? Because Backus and Raiolo played with Eric Hipple, thats why. ;)

My favorite is probably Dwight Jones, but this Quick is intriguing. And then guys like Randle, McNutt, Streeter, and Toon are all viable

5Rings,

You seem to be up on each team's needs and have had a lot to say about some of these picks. How about going through the list and grading each team's draft? And maybe even posting a mock of your own to compare?

I actually think GB will not be able to get either of the players I drafted, so MM might be an option. MM is a true Nose Tackle though - not as flexible as Reyes who can play the whole line.

JMO, of course. I'd sure want to keep my franchise signal caller upright instead of taking a TE2.

What NFL teams reach for "needs" in the draft? I read up on Potter and he's not unquestionably better than a guy who could be had in the 3rd. And Brewster doesn't grade out to 2nd round either.

I don't believe teams view the draft as a way to plug all of their visible holes. That's what FA is for. The draft is looking for the best possible talent that will fit your teams scheme.

Lavonte David, LB/SS

Ravens Defense adds another playmaker that should have time to grow into a starter...most likely in the secondary at SS

The former junior college transfer is among the most instinctive players in the 2012 draft class, regardless of position. David seems to know where the ball is going on every play and the quickest way to get there. He is a tackling machine, who is both sound in his technique and reckless in how he throws his body around. David plays the game at full speed and takes on all comers no mater the size. With cornerback-like hips, he has great ability in coverage and excellent closing speed when called upon to blitz. David is explosive, with a high motor and a great mind for the game. So why isnt he projected as a first-round pick? The Cornhusker is just 60 ½ and 225 pounds, which will take him off the draft boards of over half the teams in the NFL, including every club that plays a 3-4 scheme.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't the Ravens play a 3-4 scheme? And when I look at the size of all their other LB's I have to believe this kid has a lot of "filling out" to do.

Any team that plays a white dude with a mullet at WR in the playoffs needs help.

2.30 LSU WR Ruben Randle

Big dude who will be a big target, help Alex Kaep in the RZ, and give SF quality depth at the teams weakest position. I still like some DBs here, but Randle would be a great value this late in the 2nd.

The Ravens are a hybrid but chose talent over position. Ed Reed wont be around forever. While you cant replace a hall of famer you have to start somewhere.

Ideally a better Ray Lewis heir will fall to the Ravens in the 1st. Would have taken Upshaw if the Pack hadnt.

Someone make a Giants pick. How did that team lose seven games this year?
Really don't have a great feel for the G-men. If a tackle was in need Mayock has James Brown of Troy in his top 5 Tackles....I'd probably lean to a LB. Sean Spence , UM at OLB or maybe Audie Cole , NC State at MLB.

Got it. Are NFL teams considering him a Safety now?

1.32 New England Patriots - Nate Potter, OL - Boise State

Bill likes his linemen. This guy grades out well as an interior lineman with tackle potential.

Doubt the Giants would reach for a RB in this round. It is a need position but Reese will definitely go BPA here. RB's are so devalued these days adn the talent in this draft seems week. They will lose Tolefson to FA so I say they go DT/DE. It's their MO for the past several drafts. Other area of dire need is MILB. Rethinking the mock I'd think they'd pass on Adams in the first and grab whoever drops: Hightower, Keuchley, Burfict and then address OL/TE in the 2nd in what is a deeper talent pool.

 All the ILBs suck this year.

That's why I think they'll go LB in the first. I'm just getting up to speed on the draft and didn't understand how week the position is this year.

DE is a strong possibility with Tolefson a FA and It would be a surprise if Osi doesn't make demands for a huge contract again. Osi's price might force the Giants to trade him. Kiwi could be moved back to DE, but it seems that DE is stronger than LB in this draft.

Folks, I'm too busy at work right now, so if someone else wants to continue drafting for the Colts, have at it.
