Week Ten Player Spotlight Contest
OK, so if you're a regular Shark Pooler you've noticed that there's a LOT of Spotlights listed this week. In fact, it's double the normal amount. The reason we're double dipping this week is two-fold...
1) We're just a few weeks from training camp and the board is about to get busier with each passing day
2) It's been a while since we had a contest in the Shark Pool
Now this might not be the second coming of the "You Know You're a Football When..." contest of the world-renowned Haiku battles of yore; but hopefully this will spark some quality analysis and debate so we can get our collective juices flowing as we enter the training camp period of the preseason
So here's the deal...
The contest centers around the Week Ten Player Spotlights
We're looking for folks to contribute to the threads (as usual) but, unlike most weeks, we will award prizes for the best commentary
The staff will convene to determine winners at the end of the designated contest period
The contest will run from now until 10 p.m. EST, Wednesday, July 19thThe Prizes
1) Best Overall Contributor -- The person with the best overall contribution will receive a 3-year subscription to Footballguys. To win this award, it's about a combination of quantity and quality. We want to see excellent analysis in multiple threads. You don't have to contribute to each and every thread, but if you only have time for a couple of posts, this award probably isn't for you.
2) Best Singular Analysis -- The person with the best single Spotlight will receive their choice of a 2006 FBG subscription, a 2007 FBG Subscription, or a Footballguys Hat and T-Shirt. This award will be the most competitive as anyone with even one spotlight profile in any of the Week Ten spotlights is eligible. Think you've got a world-class analysis of Carson Palmer but are too busy to contribute otherwise, you could easily win this award.
3) Best Rebuttal Contributor -- The Spotlights are primarily known as a place where people write up their views on a player and submit their projections. But some of the best threads are those that foster debate and back-and-forth analysis. For that reason, we're giving another prize to the contributor we feel did the best job of defending their position(s) after the initial writeup. This could be one spirited retort in one Week Ten thread, or it could be solid follow-on analysis in a host of threads. The winner will receive their choice of a 2006 FBG Subscription, 2007 FBG Subscription, or a Footballguys Hat and T-Shirt.
Best of luck everyone, and ENJOY!
