Shaun Draughn RB SF... What are your takes? (1 Viewer)

Curious about thoughts on this guy. Could he be a low end rb 2 for the rest of of the season? I'm not convinced Hyde is going to play again this year but San Francisco is falling apart. I didn't get to see him play and I'm wondering what the scouting report on this guy is?

I'll just speak for the other man's trash/treasure argument...

- nice game vs Atlanta.

- the guy, dominated the team's touches when people were expecting Rbbc

- He wasn't exactly unknown coming out of college, he was on the draft radar, didn't get drafted. Was still given some playing time by KC as a rookie.

- New QB vs.... that QB is Blaine Gabbert.

- People look at Hyde and say that was a great back who did next to nothing, but then Hyde may have been hurt plus Kaepernick.

One other thing - the 9ers get Chicago week 13, Cleveland week 14 and Detroit week 16. I think that's worth something especially if you think Hyde doesn't come back. Negative is next 2 weeks he gets @Seattle (no thanks) then the Cards (not much better), so I think he's unstartable until maybe week 13.

These are his games of 10+ carries:

- 16/58/0 SF vs Atl 2015

- 12/40/0 KC vs Bal 2012

- 11/11/0 KC @TB 2012

- 10/19/0 SD vs NYJ 2014

2012 KC vs BUF he went 5/56/0 ru + 1/23/0 rec, probably his most effective game.

Lifetime 3.54 yard average.

:sadbanana:

PPR:

Outside of SF being bad, my concern would be with the possibility of Cadet (if active) when in catchup mode. And thus winding up with something like :Draughn 1-2 downs, Cadet 3rd downs, Gaskins short yardage.

Kaep rarely ever checked down so that's something in Draughn's favor if he can remain in for pass downs. That's the only remote possibility IMO he winds up a RB2 rest of season.

JAG on a bad team.
Thanks for the info and thoughts. I'm curious to see how this one turns out. I keep passing on back ups that get to play and I should have jumped on them (west for example).

Stupid question though... What does "JAG" mean?

I had him for a couple years in dynasty with those 10 carry games, so I am familiar with his work. Not even sure he qualifies as a JAG.

Thanks to this thread I have realized he is not Reuben Droughns (spelling?)

Less optimistic about him now
Interesting.

Reuben Droughns (/ˈdroʊnz/; born August 21, 1978) is a retired American football running back who is currently the assistant coach for the Serbian team Vukovi Beograd

Actually feel pretty good about starting him over Joique Bell, Ajayi and Bradshaw. Expecting 15 for 40, 6 rec for 40 and a poorly analyzed video replay review TD.

Why over Joique? I suppose that Abdullah is theoretically more of a threat than Gaskins or Cadet, but overall, it seems like Bell should have as much opportunity as Draughn and has a much easier match-up.

What can we expect today against Seattle? In a PPR league I'm hoping to get 10 points from him. Maybe 40-50 yds with 3-4 receptions and 25 yds receiving. Doable?

I don't know what to tell you. You're playing a terrible match up with a guy that sucks ###. Adjust expectations accordingly.

You're guaranteed about 5-8 points from him this week imo. Not a horrible rb2 play if desperate. Id rather start him than bell.

I'm desperate! Obviously as I'm actually considering him. Other options are Karlos Williams or Lacy. All seem about the same.points wise. I'm hoping to get 10 points out of my RB2. IMO the only way Lacy or Williams gets there is a TD. Draughn, while not a great matchup, should have the carries to himself and hopefully a few dumpoff receptions. Maybe some second half garbage time stats as well. It sucks.

Or is this just the rationalization of a desperate owner?

Ended up dropping him him before the game. I thought he could get 10-12 points in PPR but he exceeded expectations. I'll be looking to pick him back up. I think he's good bench depth the rest of the way. Not feeling too bad though as I dropped him for Rawls when the Lynch news came out.

Was outbid for Rawls and Allen so Draughn's my new favorite 49er. Not expecting a touchdown but if his role remains the same in the passing game he should be locked into double-digit points per week in PPR. I'll take that.

AZ's Achilles heal all year on D has been giving up lots of passes to backs for big gains. I'm playing him with more confidence than I should.

Tied for 11th in receptions the past three games with 17. No RB has more. I don't see any upside with him but if 10-12 points is all you need in PPR he should keep getting it done.

I got him off the WW last week and was happy with what he did but thinking about dropping him for David Johnson since I need the upside next week.

Watched most of the game and like Steed said above, he looked surprisingly fast and elusive when called upon. Pretty high floor in PPR as he will prob still see most of the work and dumpoffs unless Cadet or Gaskins get more work.
