Shawn Merriman injury thread (1 Viewer)

So with the Chargers wising up and being more agressive with ther LBs ( Merriman/Phillips) their sack totals have gone up past few weeks. Merriman had returned to being the beast he was last year. 6 sacks in his last 10 qtrs, He had 2 in first half then went down w/ knee sprain yesterday. Charger players saying it was a cheap shot by Titan OL. Especially for those of us w/ big play heavy scoring Merriman was rolling at the right time. He has a GREAT matchup this week with the Lions, but playing this week seems very iffy. Read he is scheduled for MRI today, hopefully he gets some good news

The Pats and Rodney Harrison know ALL about Titans and cheap shots when they went hunting for Rodney's knee at the end of last year. I did not see the Merriman play, but wouldn't be surprised if a fine was handed down.

I saw the reply and thought any talk of calling that a cheap shot are way off. It was an outstanding and perfectly legal crack block.

No. I'm nervous that the Chargers will be forced into a lot of nickel and dime coverage against the Lions, which will send Wilhelm to the bench. Weddle plays a lot of nickel and Cooper is the lone dime backer. The Lions could run and Wilhelm may be productive, but there's plenty of downside with him.The Detroit matchup has been bad for non pass rushing LBs; Wilhelm gets a downgrade, Phillips (and Marques Harris) the upgrade.
