Shawne Merriman at Halftime (1 Viewer)

Pat Patriot

Footballguy
James Brown asked him what he thought of the game so far. He said something to the affect of "Both teams look nervous thats why it was so low scoring. I expect more points in the 2nd half." 17-10 is low scoring? In a game with a total of 38?

Then JB asks him who he things will win. He says "The Jets. They have done a very good job holding Brady down and only allowing 17 points." He does realize that 17X2=34 doesnt he? If the Jets D gives up 34, they have held Brady down?

Dude is either not watching or an idiot or both.

Anybody catch Jason "the Soap Box" Taylor on ESPN this morning? Said he got a care package from Shawn with a Lights Out t-shirt and hat, and a box of microwave popcorn for Taylor to eat while watching Merriman playing in the playoffs. Hilarious.

The T-shirt was a medium! :D

I can assure you that I do not care who Shawne Merriman thinks will win this game. He is a meathead.
But you decided to start a thread about it anyway. Nice logic.
The thread is about Shawne Merriman being a moron. Not about who he WANTS to win this game. Of course he wants the Jets to win.
Quite frankly I don't think he or any other Charger care who wins. Neither team will stop LT and neither team will keep Merriman or Phillips off their QB's back. Another not for all the East Coasters (ie: East of the Rockies) note the tank top in January! Lovin SoCal.

Not really a stupid thread so move along. Merriman was all messed up. He was answering questions that were not asked? Very weird.

You can move on any time you like. In fact, I have no idea why you keep posting in this thread.
Self-appointed stupid-thread police. It's my job.
The guy called a 17-10 game at halftime low scoring. Even if as you said he missed the whole last drive "setting up" for the interview (that was a 7 minute gametime drive. How long do you think it takes to put a mic on?), 10-10 at halftime is not low scoring. THAT is what I was commenting on.

I understand nobody cares who Juice Boy hopes will win between NE and NY. I wouldn't care either. But he didn't even answer the questions of Marino and Co., rattling off jibberish instead. It was like he wasn't smart enough to understand their questions.

Shades of the Barbara Walters interview with Mike Tyson.

I'm not trying to defend him, because he didn't answer the question asked. but if you watch any press conference, post game interview or halftime report you will notice that it is entirely common for players and coaches to answer a question with a tangent answer. If they even stay on topic at all. Everybody does it all the time. Whether players/coaches don't hear or fully hear the questions, or stop listening halfway through the question, or there's technical problems (including earpiece delay), or already knowing what they want to say regardless of the question, or just not all that bright. Very rarely do you see an interview where the interviewee answers all the questions spot on. So what, he blew an interview. I'd still hate to be Brady next week.

Good point. I guess I just happened to notice this interview more than most and found it annoying.Next weekend should be a good game.

10-10 at halftime is not low scoring. THAT is what I was commenting on.
Only 1 team that made the playoffs averages less than 20 points a game. Are you sure this thread is dedicated to Merriman being the moron?
20 pts with 8 minutes left in the half in a game with an O/U of 38 is not a low scoring game no matter how you want to protect your boy Merriman.
Nice try to cover yourself with the O/U.... but it still doesn't hide the fact you didn't actually know that 11/12 playoff teams average more than 10pt/half. Your statement quoted above "10-10 at halftime is not low scoring" is false at least as it pertains to the teams in the playoffs. You can spin it anyway you want... it'll still be a false statement. THAT is what I am commenting on.Hate Merriman all you want. You'll hate him even more after next weekend.

I dont know why you are trying so hard to argue Semantics. I'm not covering with the O/U. I am a gambler so I happen to know what a low scoring game looks like in comparison with the TOTAL. I'm not buying that he didnt know the Patriots scored a TD at the end of the half because he was SETTING UP for his interview so this 10-10 argument is irrelevant anyways.

That's just because right now he's a favorite whipping boy. Taylor, insecure over his chances to win DPOY, got everyone whipped up into a frenzy since the suspension issue had pretty much died down.

How can you expect Merriman to watch every snap of every game on TV when he's undoubtedly busy watching his supplements to make sure nobody tampers with them? :(

As far as not answering the questions go, I thought he was rather deft. When asked which team he would rather face next week, he answered who he thought was going to win. It's better than the cliche "I don't really care who we play. I'm just hoping for a good game."

Steroids affect shorterm memory, don't they? Maybe he forgot what game he was referring to?

Being cocky and thinking your inexperienced Chargers will easily beat the Patriots makes you about as naive as your boy Merriman. I never thought Charger fans were obnoxious, my thoughts are changing on the subject at a rapid rate.
Yes, yes, experience sure helped the 2001 Patriots. It's the foundation for everything.

Do you realize how few opportunities Charger fans have had to talk smack? Be patient with us if we are a bit out of practice.

I see nothing he said that remotely approaches that.

Maybe to Merriman, he expects 40-38 games, so 17-10 is a low scoring HT score.... :lmao:

By th eway, I loved the black wife beater...... :lmao:

I can't believe Pats fans are so bent out of shape they will create an entire thread about this. The shoot was less than a minute after half-time and he obviously thought it was 10-10. He picked the Jets. What's the big deal? His shirt was also inappropriate, but why do you care? Is it really worth an entire thread to point out he wore a tank top and missed the last 5 minutes of the half? Doesn't Brady have a hangnail or something you should be monitoring?

Yes, he does have a hangnail. The thing just has been bothering him all season long. Its some new hangnail disorder too. The training staff calls it Turfhangnail. Coupled with his sore shoulder, he probably will be listed as Questionable this week.
