Dear Hippie Bongwater:"expects him to go" is not the same as "optimistic he can play".HTH, TIA, YWIA
Skeeter:Do you know what the phrase "Is optimistic" means? Note this one's a lil tougher because it's a lil outside it's more common usage. they aren't saying that he is an optimistic person, but specifically as to the issue of whether he will play, that he believes in the likelihood of it happening. and "expects to go" and "can play" are pretty much synonamous.

bit i digress. any more news?
Here's today's take from one of theTimes-Picayune guys on a chat happening...now. He was aked about Shockey and Colston's status.Mike Triplett, T-P: The Saints are out there practicing now. They kick us out at the start of team drills, so we'll find out from Payton this afternoon how involved they were. But both players were out there doing the full load in individual drills. I think Colston will definitely play, and I think Shockey will, too, though there's a little more doubt with him. It was a good sign that he was back out there today. It also looks like they may have released backup tight end Sean Ryan, though we haven't seen any official transactions yet.

Not much new here:Receiver Marques Colston (thumb) and tight end Jeremy Shockey (sports hernia) also appear on track to return to the lineup Sunday. Both players participated in team drills on a limited basis Thursday. Payton said it was a good sign that Shockey was able to get back out there for a second straight day, with only a minor amount of soreness after Wednesday's practice.

The Saints released backup tight end Sean Ryan on Thursday, which could be a sign that Shockey's return is imminent. He was replaced on the roster by receiver/return specialist Courtney Roby.

idk how optimistic i am about Shockey playing this weekend. He had surgery for a sports hernia on Sept 25. What's the normal recoup time for sports hernia surgery? KCurtis had surgery a while back and still isn't playing. McNabb was out for a while too. Does it depend? 1 month removed from the scalpel seems a bit soon to be playing football.

From a medical website: "Rehabilitation from surgery for a sports hernia usually takes about eight weeks."

Per CBS Sports- Jeremy Shockey, TE NO

News: Saints TE Jeremy Shockey is expected to return for a divisional game Sunday at Carolina. "Good to go," said Shockey, his teeth chattering intermittently after he emerged from an ice bath following Thursday's practice. Shockey had sports hernia surgery on Sept. 23. He started practicing on a limited basis last week, but sat out last Sunday's win over Oakland. "Everything has felt better every day and that's very encouraging," he said. "It's the first time that I can actually sneeze without feeling like I'm getting stabbed, like in a bar." The Saints also waived tight end Sean Ryan, who was New Orleans' third option at that position while Shockey was out last week. Through the first three games of the season, Shockey was the Saints' second-leading receiver with 16 catches for 151 yards.

Analysis: If Shockey plays against the Panthers as expected, get him back in your starting lineup. When healthy, Shockey is a No. 1 Fantasy TE.

Yesss at last the MOJO is back at my TE position BABY!!! :lmao:

Per Rotoworld -

Jeremy Shockey (groin) had limited participation in Saints practice on Thursday.

Shockey wasn't too sore to go after taking reps Wednesday, an encouraging sign. Check back on Friday, but indications are that he'll start at Carolina.
