Was surprised to find Shockey dropped in my league. I know hes tailed off recently but surely he has to be rostered right? The running game is clicking but i think they will be in some shootouts the rest of the way.

Week 5 Bye casualty and not many teams have the space to roster two TEs. My guess is that's all there is to this because he's looked quite good when the opportunities come his way.

That offense is to strong to just drop him.If I were you I'd pick him up if I had the roster space.

If you have the room Shockey is going to be a major player at TE this year. Depends on the TE's you already have but he is worth grabbing IMO.

Definitely worth grabbing.

The Giants are next and that offers some revenge motivation.

But then after that we get back to easier defenses than what we've seen with the Jets and will see with the Giants. The Bills game I throw out the window as far as Brees is concerned.

I picked him up after Week 1, and have since dropped the TE I drafted, Zach Miller. Didnt even cross my mind to drop him this week considering whats on the WW at TE (got Marcedes Lewis for this week, and after him, even uglier).

I agree with everyone saying that offense is too potent to consider dropping him - unless you have 1 of the big 4

I never care to carry more than 1 TE on my roster. I might pick up a FA if he looks like he could be a top 3 TE that season. I might pick one up to fill in on the bye week then drop him again.

The reason Shockey was dropped is the same reason why you can draft a guy like him late. Because there are never really more than half a dozen TEs a year who are studs and its always easy to pick another out of the FA pool if your starter is hurt or on bye. While Shockey is capable of being in the top 5, he isnt being projected there, so at this time, he's just another TE. Other than Gates, Witten, Gonzo, and Clark, a TE just isnt worth much in a trade. Better to use bench spots on other positions after you have established your primary TE. If you are still starting a questionable TE, you could pick up a guy like Shockey until you are satisfied with your starter but its not like you are going to sell him for much.

Q: At this point how close is Jeremy Shockey being to everything you hoped he would be if not already?

A: I think when we went out to acquire him, we were looking for someone who was versatile and could catch and block and do those things. I said this before, fortunately he’s healthy and he’s doing those things. He’s been very in tune to exactly what we’re doing and he’s done a real good job with that. He’s been a great teammate, a good leader and he’s had a good season because of it.

Q: How does he specifically upgraded the offense?

A: He’s a guy that’s a threat on third down with matchups in regard to who he draws, the linebacker or safety. He’s someone that’s a big target. When you talk about throwing to someone, his stature is pretty big, so it gives you a little bit more margin for error, location variability and I think Drew (Brees) takes advantage of it. The third down snaps, the base play action and the red zone.

Q: Is his intensity contagious?

A: I think so. I think it’s positive. If you ask the players, they’d view it as a positive.

Shockey was a limited participant in practice all week (shoulder) and is listed as probable.
