The 3 times that the Jets have given Greene 15 or more carries, he responded:

19 carries, 144 yards, 2 TDs

16 carries, 95 yards

12 carries, 135 yards, 1 TD (okay so he didn't get 15 carries, but you get my point)

I'm as excited about Green as I am DW and JStew. In other words, wish the situation were different.

dont get too excited. he's nothing special. Chester Taylor-like, and will always be replaced once the next great RB prospect comes along in the next 1-3 years.

I might be if you could tell me with certainty where HIS DADDY (Th Jones) is headed next year.

Since DADDY is sure to be back and large and in charge, you're better off buying Sproles futures?

well I traded Westy for Greene in a PPR dynasty right before Westy's second concussion. So I'm pretty stoked about Greene, even if I have to sit on him another year. But I think it says a lot in the most important game of the year that he had more carries than Jones.

He's gonna be tremendous with that line. Depending on what happens with Jones he may be a top 5 back.

Very much excited. Traded up in two rookie drafts to get him, and have turned down quite a few offers for him these past couple of months.

:hophead: Chester Taylor-like? All I know is he passes the eyeball test and runs behind one of the best lines in the NFL. Not to mention that defense looks pretty good. Not much not to like.

I would like to see him get a little more involved in the passing game, but with his alleged stone hands, I doubt that will happen. This off-season will be very interesting to see what they do with Washingtone and Jones.

I don't think it's realistic to ever expect him to be a pass-catching back by any means. It's not something he did in college and I've never seen him thrown to as a Jet. Maybe with a lot of practice the Jets can throw a few passes his way but I'm not holding my breath.

Yes I'm excited about the future of Greene. I drafted him at the 1.06 position in the 2009 Rookie Draft. I knew I wouldn't get a lot of production out of him this season since he was behind Jones and Washington. I'd hope that maybe he would begin to take carries away from Jones towards the end of the season. For 2010 I think Jones is gone unless he greatly reduces his $$ demands for a new contract, if he does, then I see 2010 as a 50-50 split for Jones/Greene with Washington in for 3rd down situations. If Jones is gone, then I see Greene carrying the bulk of the workload with Washington in for 3rd downs.

Awkward... So in the most important game of the year why did TJones aka "daddy," as you have so gracefully coined, have 15 carries for 34 yards? Do you think the Jets will keep Jones' option next year for $5 million? That certainly doesn't fall into the "sure to be" category. In fact, it would seem the opposite. As in, sure not to be back, be large, nor in charge. Which one of these is not like the other:21 carries, 135 yards15 carries, 34 yards.

If this is true, then it greatly reduces his value in PPR leagues. A non-catching RB has to get alot of carries and TDs to keep pace with the backs who run AND catch a lot.

I wouldn't ever be expecting Greene to be a PPR pimp. What you see is what you get. He's a strong runner and should have a home in the league for a while, but he isn't superbly talented and doubt you get a top 10 finish out of him without 15+ TDs.

Greene has a bright future, but I wouldn't get too carried away yet for 2010.

Jones is probably not going anywhere, and is coming off a strong year himself. I think it's certainly safe to say that Greene will have an expanded role, which could grow larger if Jones starts to show some wear-and-tear.

But for the time being, I would temper my expectations for next year. For 2011 though, I think that will be his time.

Not only can Shonn not catch the ball, he can't seem to hold on to it when he's running with it. He seems to have the "itis".

would Greene owners in a PPR dynasty league trade him and a 3.12 rookie pick for the 1.4, 1.11, and 2.4 rookie picks?
Unless i am in total rebuild mode (to the point where the 1.11 pick would be an unquestioned building block of my team) i would not.I dont think you're gettin a player as good as greene at 1.4. IMO, the guys around at 1.11 will be a total crap shoot. I just dont think this is a very talented group of skill guys.

my team is definitely not in rebuilding mode, just won the first season of this dynasty league. Thanks for the feedback, anyone else agree or disagree?

As I feared, his value is soaring.

In two separate leagues I sent straight up offers that were rejected:

CJ Spiller for Greene

Knowshon Moreno for Greene

Not exactly chopped liver, but it seems that everyone who owns Greene has rightly or wrongly succumbed to the Julius Jones Theorem (thinking that their young RB who shows flashes is a stone cold lock for success). Now is not the time to buy low. If Thomas Jones returns then there might be another buy low window early next season.

Kinda wish the Jets hadn't made the playoffs. The cat is out of the bag.

Got him a lot later than I should have in my main league this past year, and sat on him. He is on a perfect team that would use his skills early and often...

No question about it...he is a future stud at the RB position...fantasy and real-life. Guy was a beast at Iowa, didn't think it would translate, but his game has...in a big way.

Yea, I always thought he would be good, but he's even better than I thought he would be. The biggest surprise has been his speed. He has broken some long runs the last two weeks and has actually run away from defenders in the open field. He flashed some of this ability in the Purdue game last season, but I didn't think he'd be a threat to go 50 yards for a score in the NFL.

The guy is a lot closer to Michael Turner than he is to Rudi Johnson. I'm a little sick that I didn't acquire him in more of my leagues before he blew up. He was going to be one of my big targets this offseason and the last two weeks have killed that plan.

Leon Washington comes back next year. Sell high.
Leon Washington is the most overblown danger to Greene. If you have watched Greene play the last month and think Washington coming back off a DEVASTATING injury is a detriment to Greene you need to have your head examined. Greene is outplaying Jones and I think it's ludicrous for any to still think he won't be their starter next year. Washington will make a nice 3rd down back or gimmick player, IF he still has his explosion after the horrible injury.

 I think Washington's injury is overblown (at least by you). It was only fractures, not tendons. He's already 2 months ahead of his recovery schedule and is supposed to be 100% ready for training camp.

However, the small shot at him having a legit 1st/2nd down role in the future has now went down the drain with Greene's performance. Wasn't high on Greene coming into the league, but he looks to be better than what I thought {Jesse Chatman). In the same regard, I want to him see him do this all year long [and not only late year with fresh legs]. He showed impressive breakaway speed on that TD run 2day.Disclaimer: Leon dynasty owner.
