Shooting @ KC Chiefs facility--2 people shot (1 player) (1 Viewer)

There must be a story about why he decided to end it at the team facilities. I am not sure I want to hear it, this is all pretty dark for me, but clearly he picked that spot for a reason.
Attention.
I wonder if he had intended to enter the Chiefs facility prior to being confronted by Pioli and Crennel - probably a good thing they stepped up at the price of having to witness the horror themselves.
If he intended to visit one of the other players then maybe.
To pile speculation on speculation, paternity issues with the new child would certainly fit the scenario.

Obviously very sad that he took his own life. But he murdered someone as well.
:goodposting: someone talked about the "Vince McMahon" advice given to the NFL to still play the game. I don't think playing the game (if the players are willing and with the understanding that anyone who is uncomfortable playing can take the game off) is a bad thing. But I wonder if they'll react to this the way that the WWE did to the Benoit situation. It took years before they'd even say Benoit's name in a broadcast or on a DVD case again after they found out what actually happened (if I remember right, the night he died they didn't know what happened only that he no-showed, and the night after they didn't know what had happened exactly).

The Rosen link speculates that it is Javon Belcher
Someone updated his Wiki page to reflect he died today.Guess they figure no sense waiting on confirmation when the twitterverse already blew up about it?
do they have the details of what happened on there yet?
"This article is about a person who has recently died or has been presumed dead. Some information, such as that pertaining to the circumstances of the person's death and surrounding events, may change rapidly as more facts become known. In the event that this article is disruptively edited following the death of the subject, please request administrator intervention on this page."Aww. So awesome he gets to tweet "FIRST!".
Take your jaded schtick elsewhere. Unreal. Have they released who the other person shot at KC was?

First paragraph in wiki

Jovan Allen Belcher (July 24, 1987 – December 1, 2012?[1]) was an American football linebacker with the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He played collegiately with the Maine Black Bears. He played defensive end during his junior and senior years, after switching to the position from outside linebacker where he played as sophomore and freshman. Channel 5 news in Kansas City are reporting Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend before shooting and killing his girlfriend. He then drove to the Chiefs stadium where he committed suicide.
Did he have 2 girlfriends that he allegedly killed or is this wikiness.

According to ESPN, Belcher killed his girlfriend in front of her mother, drove to the practice facility and was found upset and sitting in his car by a member of the organization. Pioli and Crennel went to talk to Belcher in the parking lot. Belcher reportedly thanked Pioli and Crennel before killing himself in the car.

Just awful.

Yeah, his death isn't the tragedy here.

I think this makes at least 7, if not more, active players with the Chiefs died. Got nothing else to add to that just seems to be a lot of tragedy for one franchise.

He murdered the mother of his child. I don't feel sorry about his death at all after that.

Tragic.

Prayers out to, families, friends, and acquaintences of the two young people as they are victims of circumstance and the most impacted who did nothing wrong.

Postponing the game doesn't take away the trauma, it only postpones the process of grief. Postponing the game creates logistical nightmares for many people, not just the NFL but people who travel to games or work at the stadium etc. It can be done and the league will face criticism no matter what they do but their isn't any right way to handle this and postponing the game will definitely create problems for many so they should go forward.

I can't imagine how Romeo Crennell or Scott Pioli are handling this. If anything I would make a special effort to allow them and any other coaches or players who witnessed this any amount of time off and counseling they need and extend the same assistance to the friends and families.

Danny Parkins @DannyParkinsThe player apparently was confronted with #Chiefs coaches in the parking lot before he put the gun to his head and committed suicide.
I dont get this....IF the chiefs are aware of a criminal situation, WTF are the coaches going out to confront him in the parking lot?Why aren't the police already at the facility of the suspect who has a job he may be thinking he needs to get to?If they aren't aware, WTF are the coaches going to confront him about in the parking lot? (Is this how tardy on Saturday is handled? coaches say see you tuesday in the parking lot dont come in?) What were they confronting him about????
Coaches often function as father figures. I imagine confronting him, was tried to plead with him/talk him down off the ledge.

I think the suicide shows a level of remorse that he could not undo what he knew he had done. I don't know how it got to that point, but I am open to the possibility that he just went off the deep end. Its tragic for his family, his girl friend's family, and the Chief's organization.

Difficult to try and find reason in unreasonable actions. Assuming the reports are true I feel especially awful for that poor child :(For those who might have similar thoughts - seek help and think of those you would leave behind!-QG
:goodposting: Sad day indeed for the KC Franchise, their fans, and the rest of us. :(

:goodposting: 1. Murdered his girlfriend.2. Murdered her in front of her own mother which must be excrutiating.3. Left a two month old without any parents.4. Potentially threatened additional acts of violence.5. Killed himself in front of others which must be emotionally scarring. Each of those takes away from the sympathy that I can muster. I also thought of the Benoit situation and, as I recall, the sympathy for Benoit was almost nonexistent. Belcher was obviously emotional and obviously not thinking straight and it's sad that he felt so down as to take his own lfe; but all of the above actions were completely unecessary if he simply wanted to leave this world, and those actions will drastically and negatively affect people's lives.

terrible, terrible news. T &P to both the GF and Belchers families, as well as the whole Chiefs orginization.

Don't see any reason whatsoever to play this game tomorrow. Chiefs need time to process this. They need to either re-schedule for Monday (still probably not enough time) or cancel all together. 1-10 team vs 3-8 team - no playoff implications on the line, chiefs not in any real danver of altering their draft position. I say cancel the game and treat it as a tie in the standings.

Easy now. We don't know anything about why he did what he did. There's always a story behind every tragedy and it's never completely black and white. What if he just found out that his best friend was the father of the child? Just sayin - we don't know enough yet to be pissing on anyone's graves.

I definitely feel bad for him AND everyone he hurt. It's obvious he snapped for whatever reason we may never know. Unless you have some concrete evidence that the guy was a rotten individual throughout his life then don't be so quick to condemn him. I don't judge anyone and their entire life by one moment of insanity. I don't care that he's an NFL player as I'd say the same for anyone else. It's a tragedy for everyone involved including the suspect.

Yea he killed and he atoned by taking his own life. Why continue to pile on? Why do people act like sympathy is a currency and in short supply? He did a tragically bad thing, he knew it, he paid for it. Personally I sympathize with everyone involved but to each their own.

Did I say that? What I am saying is that it's probably a little premature (and immature) to start talking about pissing on the grave of someone given that we know nothing about the situation. That's all. There will plenty of time to vilify and crucify.

You cannot make this stuff up:

According to Peter King, Belcher majored in Child Development and Family Relations at the University of Maine:

Draft pick order is at stake. The game is not being cancelled. It could be postponed by a day. The league is not going to cancel a game because some jerk player killed himself and another person.

Of course not but people do irrational things in the heat of an arguement. Some to a larger extent than others. Not everyone who did something like this was a horrible person throughout their lives. Sadly not every person on the planet is wired the same way. No one responding to this thread should judge as they don't know what Belcher was like as a person or what the real circumstances were. There is no excuse for what happened but people make mistakes, some unfortunately are incomprehensible to most of us.

Spending the rest of his life in jail or an institution would be starting to atone. Killing himself was the easy way out. That's really one of the most absurd things I've ever heard.

So the idea of a person killing themselves to atone for murdering someone is one of the most absurd things you have ever heard? Really? Exaggerate much?

I think because its his gf he's getting more sympathy than the rest of the random murder-suicides that happened this year....

Yes, yes, sometimes but not now. Killing yourself to avoid paying for your crimes is one of the most blatant cowardly acts a man can do. The idea that someone actually thinks he's atoned for his crime by not having to face his actions is utterly absurd.

 Insta-death penalty. Seems like he spent the rest of his life anguishing about his crime - even the most diehard person who believes in retaliation has to find this outcome satisfying

Good to see people already positioning themselves in their varying degrees of outrage over other's lack of and/or severity of outrage.

Would this be your take if it were (Gd forbid) your daughter and unborn grandchild who he killed? In front of you? Would you have a very "Christian like" reaction? Just curious. This guy was obviously a coward and a murderer. The fact that he took his own life after murdering TWO people doesn't martyrize him and should not change how he is judged. It's so easy to sit atop a perch, unaffected personally by a situation and preach for people to be Christian like or to have a heart. Put yourself in the girls parents shoes. Had he not killed anyone else but killed himself I would feel terribly sorry for him and the pain he must have been going through to do that. But once he took the lives of other innocent people that made it impossible for me to show any remorse for his life. Jovan belcher will go down in history as a cold loses murderer in my book. Sorry for the rant
