Should Eli Manning be benched? (1 Viewer)

If you answered no, how much longer can he keep performing like this before he should get benched?

Steady downward trends the last 2 yrs in completion % (57% last year) and YPA (6.9 last year) and QB rating (69.4). 18 TDs and 27 INTs last year. Just doesn't look good at all. Last night was just awful with 163/1/2 and about to face 2 more good defenses in Arizona and Houston.

So, when is it time to yank him and give Nassib a shot?

I would do it but he didn't win me 2 Super Bowls. I don't see how his decline is much different than Matt Schaub's. Add in his long consecutive starts streak, and I have no idea how the Giants can get out from under this elephant. But I would give Nassib a shot late in the year if I was the head coach.

Perhaps the giants should start out by getting Nassib into games earlier. At least give them a look at how he does before giving him a start...

There's always been something screwy about Eli, from his high school days.

Also, I always thought he would have made a good mobile, roll out QB like his dad, but there's something lacking in his smarts.

And he just doesn't seem that upset or mad enough with some of these bad games on his part and his team's. He's always been a spoiled rich kid, bench him already.

Perhaps Nassib can run for his life better than Eli but until the Giants fix the offensive line I don’t think it matters who the QB is they are going to struggle

Agreed but we already know waft we have in Eli: a middling talent on the decline. He's not winning any more Super Bowls for us without a stifling defense and a great o line. Otoh we have No clue what we have in nassib. This is going to be a bad bad year for the giants. After a few more games of this rap why not bench Eli and see what they have I nassib before tey go into the 2015 draft with a high pick?

Did you guys know that only 3 of his 23 INT last year were deemed his fault by PFF? The rest were bad routes/decisions/tipped balls by the WRs.

He had a rough game, and the two picks could have been avoided, but he's not a lower tier QB. I stopped counting the drops after 4 from his receivers. Cruz dropped two himself and both were perfectly thrown balls.

We like to hate on Eli but his supporting cast blows McNuggets, and the offensive line is terrible.

There's a reason they call him Gomer...he just doesn't seem very smart. And then I hear him talking this morning after the game and he totally deflects any blame about his performance. He sounds like a coach when he talks...just deflects everything. "Well, we gotta get better as a team." "We need to work on timing." Hey Gomer...how about YOU gotta work on better accuracy and better choices?!?! He sucks so bad. If he weren't Peytons brother he would have been gone a while ago. But now Coughlin is hitched to him. He got lucky with a helmet catch in one Super Bowl (another bad throw on his part) and a stellar defense in another. He is no more than a bottom tier NFL QB...barely startable.

I watched the post game pressed and got the total different vibe. He took ALL the blame there. I left it thinking there is no way all that was his fault and his covering for his teammates.

Yea I don't know wtf you were listening to Gomer. I'm not a Giants fan or anything but the hate on him when he's probably the 3rd best player on the team is astounding.

C'mon I know your a Giant's fan but take of the blinders. Eli is absolutely terrible ...his confidence is completely shot and his skills are just not good.

He is missing receivers, running 10 yard routes, by 2 or 3 yards ?!?!?! Almost every pass he completed last night put his receivers in harms way, having them stretch out across the middle.

And his TD pass to Donnell was a wobbling dead duck.

This goes back to last year and has gotten much much worse with this new offense. He was never good at short passes ... they are a designed pick 6 for him.

Nassib looked much more mobile and comfortable running this offense and he did it against some 1st team defenses so I dont want to hear that excuse.

Against the Pats in the final preseason game game Eli could not do anything(2 3 and outs I believe) ...Nassib came in and immediately lead them to 2 scores against the Pats 1st team! Even the commentators were talking about it.

LOL! Not sure if this was meant to be funny but I found it to be so. "3rd best player on the team". On a team full of crap, 3rd sounds pretty awful. But I get your point...I guess...Gomer.

He specifically took blame for the ball that hit the TE in the leg, and all I could think was, "Yeah, it was his first start and he is running perfect routes". Eli hate is just silly...more so, it comes from the outside (i.e. not NYG fans) than from the inside. Usually fans of a specific team are more critical of their players than those from the outside.

What are you talking about ...Do you live in NY? Eli is the laughing stock of NYC QBs ... Every where you turn there's an Eli joke or reference.

He makes Geno look like Joe Montana

No blinders

Yes I am a Giants fan but that has nothing to do with what I am seeing.

I stand by my statement that until the offensive line gets fixed or gets better it won’t matter who the QB is.

FYI while I like Eli I though the Giants gave up too much for him on draft day 10 years ago and I still think the Giants gave up too much for Eli in the draft day trade 10 years later. At no point in his career was he five players better than Big Ben or Rivers. It was a bad trade that worked out well for my favorite team.

Eli looked confused all game. He was making terrible decisions, poor passes, and was moving really slowly. How many plays were there where the WR didn't even turn around for the pass? One or two of those and I blame the WR, but 5+ and your QB is to blame. If I'm the Giants, it's time to thank Eli for his years of service and cut him loose.

The way people are talking in here I'd love to see him traded to a team like the Rams or Browns. He's turn things around pretty quick in that case IMO.

I don't believe so. He's just a bad QB. Would he be an upgrade on Hill and the other guy? Sure. But we'd just be comparing turds to less stinky turds. He is barely startable in fantasy football because he is such a bad QB in reality. Every QB could be good if they had a great oline, great RBs, great WRs, great TEs, and a great defense. The good QBs can create with less.

He might be a bad QB but given the state of his receivers, offensive line, and offensive game plan in general we have absolutely no way of knowing how bad or good he currently is.
