With the obesity problems in the U.S. I think that the War On Obesity should include banning food commercials from television. Look at how well this worked in reducing the use of cigarettes and alcohol. I admit I'm as guilty as anyone succumbing to the siren call of quick and easy food even though I'm not hungry. Every time I view a Red Lobster commercial I can't help but get up and throw a couple of lobster tails in the microwave. Are you with me?

I wouldn't just stop at commercials. Get rid of the Food Network. You ever watch that when you're hungry???

I know this is shtick but I would favor banning junk food commercials marketed to children that are shown during kids programs. I don't think I favor banning all food ads.

Just ban the ones that exceed a regulated amount of added sugar.

That would encourage companies to make products that fall below it so they can advertise it.

should have a body fat sensor on the remote.. if you are too high, every unhealthy food commercial you will get still images of green leafy vegetables instead

Yes, of course they should be banned. Then the actual tv programming should be banned as well, since excess tv watching plays a part in the obesity epidemic. I look forward to my big useless piece of glass taking up space in my family room.

So when pot is legalized and they have commercials for it, will I then crave a food commercial?

Fast food places should be required to show an actual picture of the product how it looks when you unwrap it. All flat and non appetizing. Not a perfect looking creation that took 20 min to present where you can see every layer perfectly. I don't know how they're not subject to false advertising with that ####.

100% in favor of this is well. I've never understood how they can misrepresent the product they are selling.

I read that they toothpick stick the fries into the container that has a foam bottom to make the fries stick out perfect. Not the semi-empty container I get with the fries all over the bottom of the bag.

There was a 60 minutes piece about this years ago. The sandwich or whatever they are selling is either wax or coated in wax and formed to look "perfect".

That is a fry "bouquet."

Hey - they sell 50 cents worth of fruit that way for $50.

If the can also ban that "1800 cars for kids" commercial I hear 12 times a day on the radio then I am in.
Especially when they don't disclose that the money they make goes to an organization whose mission is to make Jewish kids go toward more orthodox branches of Judaism.
