Gardner could generate a few SB, but, honestly, when would I put him in my lineup over those other bats? Podsednick is on the waivers...worth a pick up? Same concern as Garnder... As far as saves go, Frasor is still available on waivers. I was thinking of making a move for him, but who to drop - Prado? Scutaro? Duchscherer?

SV and SB are usually the easiest categories to chase.

The last Yankee to steal 40 was Soriano in 2002.

Podsednik > Gardner, Pods has an every day job and bats leadoff...even if it is the Royals. Regardless, too many bats on your bench, you need more arms, especially closers (yes, put a claim in for Frasor...Morales too if he's available). Rivera, Scutaro, and Godzilla are replacement level or below in a league like this. A bench of Prado and Pods will be just fine.

In the real game? Yea, but this isn't the real game. Assume both play a full, healthy season and Pods sees at least 100 more AB's than Gardner. They have the same skill set, Gardner's just a younger version, doesn't matter if he won't see the AB's though.
Not saying he's going to be as good, but Gardner's minor league stats are similar to those of Jacoby Ellsbury. If Gardner can get on base to around a .370 rate (he was .389 for his minor league career), he'll be in a prime position to succeed. He'll be hitting 9th, sure. But the 9th place hitter on the Yanks won't have THAT many less ABs than the leadoff hitter for KC considering how many more runs NY will score. Also factor in that he'll often be hitting ahead of Jeter, Granderson/Nick Johnson, Teixeira, A-Rod and behind guys like Posada, Cano, Swisher. It wouldn't be a shock to see him score 80-90 runs and actually drive in 50 or so on top of the SBs.

KC's leadoff hitter will still get significantly more PAs than the Yankees' #9 hitter. In 2009, NY led the AL with 6447 PAs while KC was last with 6101. The 346 difference sound like a lot but when you divide it by 162 games, it's only 2.13 PAs more per game. That's nowhere near large enough to compensate for the top of the lineup PA bonus.Neither guy is good enough to play every day anyway.

I like the idea of dropping Scutaro and adding Frasor. With the debate here between Pods and Garner, would it be wise to roster both of them and see what develops? To do this, I would need a second name to drop...Rivera? Prado is not a thriller for me, but his flexibility gives me coverage at a couple positions if needed.

ETA...I now see Lindstrom has been named the Closer in Hou. Better choice than Frasor? Rauch and Perez are also available.
