Should The Colts Sign Edge (1 Viewer)

I haven't posted in the Shark Pool in awhile so my apologies if this has been covered in another thread. If it has been, mods feel free to delete this one.

What do people here think about the idea of the Colts bringing Edge back if Arizona releases him as expected? Addai was awful last season and appears to lack the talent to be a featured RB and someone who's better used as part of a tandem. The Colts elected not to re-sign Rhodes and in my opinion they have a major hole at RB now since I think Rhodes was their best RB last season. Edge isn't anything special anymore but as he showed late last season he still has a little juice left in the tank. Personally, I think the Colts need to use a first-day pick on a RB to either pair with Addai or supplant him as the starter. But let's say they hold off until the second day, is Edge worth targeting? He certainly knows the offense and given Addai's shortcomings he wouldn't be buried on the bench in all probability.

Again, I don't think Edge has much left but for one season is it worth it for the Colts to bring him back if they don't land a top talent at RB in the draft?

Thoughts?

So - they have to use one of their 1st 2 picks on a RB? 3rd round isn't good enough (that is now 2nd day)?

My mistake. I was including the third round in first day. Sorry about that. But yes, I think they should target a RB in the first three rounds. I think it was a pretty big weakness. Addai isn't the answer there in my opinion.

I think unless Moreno miraculously falls to their lap at #27 - or big-time value is there in round 2 - I'd rather use a 3rd or one of their two 4ths for a #2 back. They have other needs - and DT is definitely their biggest need. They can't pass up Hood or Jerry for any running back not named Moreno. They do need a true #2 back (or - at least they don't have legit 1-2 punch at RB).

Welcome back Pack...

I'm not ready to give up on Addai as a viable feature back.

2007 - 1,400 total yards and 15 touchdowns.

I think I'd pass on Edge and look at other alternatives to back up Addai.

Absolutely they should sign Edge. So he can retire a Colt and take care of his kids. I also have not given up on Addai. He was banged up early last year and never really recovered, but you could say that about a lot of guys. I can see a later round pick (4-7) as a flyer for someone, but I think they'll use a lot of picks on defense and shore that up. They can make do with what they have on offense, especially if Addai is back to being healthy which I haven't seen anything to suggest he's off track.

If they can get him for decent money and he's willing to play his role as they designate without quibbling, by all means they should sign him. They really only have Hart to back up Addai right now. Edge could transition to the team fairly easy and may be able to get decent production not being asked to carry the load.

Edge didn't seem content to split carries in Arizona on a Super Bowl team...why would he be content to be the back-up in Indy?

It makes sense in theory but I'm not sure if Edge would be willing to accept that role. If he is it would be an ideal fit but is he?
