Shuke's 1400 favorite songs by 1400 different artists. (2 Viewers)

By the way, if you've only heard that song and never seen a video to witness Edgar's contributions, please watch.

Great start to my night!

Plus, as a numbers idiot, 444 means so much.

Of course, I could never explain it to non-idiots.

Maybe shuke would understand... 🤔

EDIT:

Good live version

My fav: Highly Suspect - Bloodfeather [Official Video]

Sticks and stones break my bones
But bullet holes, you know they can't hurt me
Invincible, unbreakable, unstoppable
I'll show you who's worthy
You grab the gun, I'll take the wheel

448. J. Geils Band - Musta Got Lost

This isn't the live version that gets radio airplay but this is the only one I found footage of.  Looks like Peter Wolf's into rap varied, as there's not "Raputa the Buta" here.

Also considered: Centerfold.  This is an extremely close second.  Had this on 45, and this was HUGE when we were kids.
Peter Wolf could always talk it up so well.

Great live show.

439. Dr. John - Such A Night

Great version here with The Band from the The Last Waltz
Dr John is a top tier artist for me.

This is a good song. Not my fav, but with the good Dr., it doesn't matter.

All kick asss.

Here I am at spot 441.  The next song I have in my list is Freddie King - Going Down.

I'm sure you've heard this covered by many artists.  This was released in 1971, and I couldn't remember if this is the original.  I started looking, and realize that the original by Moloch was the song I posted at spot 837.  King's version is superior, but not really sure I want to take two spots for the same song.

So I'm moving King's version to spot 837b.  For 441, I'm adding an artist I overlooked.  It's not as egregious as the other one I mentioned earlier, which I reveal later.  But I just realized I left out Widespread Panic when I posted that Michael Houser tune.

I'm not a huge Widespread fan.  People expect me to be based on my love of the Dead and Phish.  Don't get me wrong, it's not that I dislike them, and I was lucky enough to see them before Houser's death and I thought it was awesome.  But I just don't ever go out of my way to listen to them anymore.

441. Widespread Panic - Porch Song

This one takes a few minutes to get going, give it some time.
I like both of these, but the 2nd link is blocked for me in the US.

Cinci is obviously an outlier - rightly so.

Here is a live version that I like tho: Widespread Panic - Porch Song [Moon Tunes]

I’m the same way with Panic. A lot of my DeadHead friends transitioned to Panic and they’ve tried to pull me in. I’ve seen them twice a while back and they were very good live but they never really grabbed me (their songs all kind of sound the same to me) and I never listen to them on my own choosing.

I could spend hours watching all those Midnight Special (and Don Kirschner's Rock Concert) performances. What an experience it must have been to watch these acts right up close, all without the lip synching of other shows like American Bandstand, Solid Gold, etc.
Moved from OC to Burbank when I was 13.  1973 to 1977.   Saw about 20 tapings of the Midnight Special. My older brother would take me.  Good times.

THERE HE IS!
:headbang:

whenever i heard rumors of this undertaking bandied about in year's past, i scoffed ... BUT YOU'RE DOING IT YOU MAGNIFICENT SUM#####!

choice cuts abound, if i Hipple this mutha i'll be here 'til Thursday ... but i'm gonna make a stab

432. Fanny - A Place In The Country

Hopefully I started at the right spot of this video (2:38). It's better than the studio version.

Who are these chicks?  No clue.  This showed up in my Youtube sidebar one night.
I have no clue who they are. Nice find though!

Oh lord! This is sooo classic!

I told this story in another thread - can't remember which, but this song was one of the most popular shtick martial arts kata/form songs in all of Louisville.

The song appears in Kung Pow! Enter the Fist - which is a stupid - stupid movie, but it rocks too. Thus, after serious work, we would do stupid-foo to this.

Awesome memories!
