957. Five for Fighting - 100 Years
I know this is a complete 180 from the previous song. I hesitated including this, as I don't really love it, but it is tied a nice memory. Some of you that have "known" me here for a while are aware of the medical issues my wife was fighting for years, and the turnaround she made a few years ago. Last year was probably one of the best years of my life, based on all the things we were able to do as a family. One of those things was taking to the kids to some local 4th of July festival where Five for Fighting was playing. We made them stand near the front right in front of speakers to get a real "concert" experience. This song reminds me of that day, and really represents a new beginning for us.
But how bad is Five for Fighting? Not only did we see them at a free concert in suburban midwest America, they weren't even the headliner! They opened for The Fray.
reaction was for the story, not the song. Beautiful.shame more people don't remember ronnie montrose. rip.
Sammy Hagar has a stranglehold on my top ranking of rock stars I'd most like to have a beer with.
This is fabulous. I'd never heard of this band and don't know how I'd missed them. Was just reading their Wiki page and found these parts pretty cool:
The Giving Tree Band is also known for its great environmental stewardship and eco-friendly music production. They use a number of instruments that were handmade from naturally fallen trees and reclaimed woods.
In 2008, the band set out to record a carbon-neutral album, which was done at the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center in Baraboo, Wisconsin. The album was released in 2009, and was entitled Great Possessions, which was the working title of conservationist Aldo Leopold's book, A Sand County Almanac. It was recorded with 100% solar energy at the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center in Baraboo, WI.
This will always be the “all skate...ALL SKATE” song of my yout. Freaking Rollerama.995. Rick Derringer - Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo
I grew up on classic rock. While I can't stand a lot of the same stuff that's way overplayed, there are still a few that can get me to blare the radio and sing.
Some of us will never forget. Montrose was ahead of their time with their straight ahead classic rock that stands up well decades later.shame more people don't remember ronnie montrose. rip.
Hop in my chrysler, it's as big as a whaleThey're horrible.
Can we request an EAT OFF video with this playing in the background?
Underrated band. Look how young Sammy Hagar is.
This is me. I have many songs I've heard dozens of times and still don't know the lyrics or in some cases the title. Also, I'm one of those people that can listen to music and not really "hear" the lyrics, if that makes sense.
Very original cover of “Satisfaction”959. Devo - Whip It
Do you remember when this video came out, just HOW ####ING WEIRD it was? It's pretty tame compared to today's world of the internet, instant memes, and fake weirdness. But the song has aged well.
Devo is awesome ...go Ohio, Cuyahoga Falls mother####ers.959. Devo - Whip It

A bit surprised to see him here. Check out his Rats and Roaches and his duet with Townes Van Zandt...Waitin; Around To Die.
I'll be her dog.
Well - young lady - all I can say, is that you are fortunate...very fortunate - to have never come across the Big I in his glory days.krista4 said:Oh wow. So many memories of Phoenix Hill. We always went there to dance. Didn't matter what was playing. I don't recall coming across shuke or Big I there.
Thanks for the recommendations. But why are you surprised?A bit surprised to see him here. Check out his Rats and Roaches and his duet with Townes Van Zandt...Waitin; Around To Die.
Ray Wylie Hubbard?
Really enjoyed this one. Too bad it's not a more popular song with a karaoke version out there, as I think I know someone who could do an awesome cover of it.
Videos of me dancing exist.Well - young lady - all I can say, is that you are fortunate...very fortunate - to have never come across the Big I in his glory days.
However, you need to post a dancing vid of yous, now that we knows you have legs.
Will catch up here soon. Busy day - yesterday.

My cat and I drove past here today - on the way to coffee...I'm way past my Hill days, but sadly - I believe it was demolished - or at least closed - maybe something new is up. I will check deep tomorrow - it was a great place.@Man of Constant Sorrow this place still exist? You ever seen these guys?
Yeah - saw the Pygmies often - kick ###!
Wooo-Hoooooo!!!!
Can't let a Montrose/Hagar post go by without adding another.
Most people I come in contact with don't possess a real interest in a wide variety of music. As we know Russell is down in the alley country/blues. From your other stuff I didn't see that. Thanks for the recommendations. But why are you surprised?
Pretty sure I skated hard to this tune, Free Ride. This will always be the “all skate...ALL SKATE” song of my yout. Freaking Rollerama.
Oh and that Pat Travers “Boom Boom Out Go the Lights”
Oh and...I should mention that I can’t roller skate.
Greatest FBG thread, ever!
Good tune. Deservedly ahead of Leo Sayer
I was hanging with this thread until Deee Lite got drafted. I can bow out now.
