Album cover art was/is/remains unbelievable.  There are so many examples - but all the Roger Dean stuff for Yes comes immediately to mind.  

In his "A Wizard A True Star" album, Todd Rundgren had a postcard inside the sleeve, that you could fill out and send in - and he would put your name somewhere on his next album (ended up being a poster).

album cover ...inspired by the large box of peyote buttons he had, along with some mushrooms and Ritalin.

next album was Todd - and dammit, I can't find the poster that was inside the album on the innerwebs, but it was pretty big ...and b&w picture of him that has all the names with various shading to create the picture.  

FOUND THE POSTER!! (note:  each section of the major fold areas are the size of the album, so it's about 28"-30" x 24" poster.

That is all new to me.

The 1st one. The cover. That artist knows his stuff.

I am going to try and find a larger version.

I made this sometime in the late 90's or early 2000's. I can't remember the exact date.

Anyways, soon after this, I stopped using photoshop-like software and let the camera do most of the work.

I still dabble - but nothing this big.

Each element of it exists as a separate work - but I just piled them up here - to show the variety.

You get it.

I never ever saw that cover b4, but it don't matter because all of the basic symbols are age old.

the trick is finding new ways to express them and mix them.

Just as musicians weave notes into chords and songs - we try to waeve symbols into chords and songs of a different kind.

Tonight has been great.

I played the older song Rock Brigade for my daughter a couple of weeks ago.  Her comment was, "dang, I wish they always sounded like this."  :)

Pyromania is still my favorite Def Leppard album.  I saw them in concert on their Pyromania tour and they were terrible.  :yucky:

 
I'm impressed by the commitment that all of these songs are in rank order. 

R.E.M. - I like the early stuff, I like the middle stuff, but didn't like anything after and including Up.  Hard to pick one, but Nightswimming and Letter Never Sent are outstanding tunes. 

Jethro Tull - never a huge fan even though Aqualung was constantly played in my freshman year dorms. Hymn 43 is favorite if I could pick one. 

Def Leppard - Do you take sugar? One lump or two? 

I like the Nick Drake, Boston and Cold War Kids picks.  All great tunes and the peak for those bands.  Can't go wrong with Sex on Fire, just wish I could have seen that hot chick.  Do you have a picture? 

 
240. Mumford and Sons - I Will Wait

These guys are really good.  But I think they got overplayed a bit.  They seemed to be everywhere a few years ago.  

This song and album reminds me of a vacation we took a while back, as the whole family loved this CD so we played it multiple times on the road trip.
